NCDC 2013 eject
« on: 03 July 2010, 00:11:46 »

Ok, after some very useful advice on here (as always) I replaced the duff changer in my HU with a doner CDC3. Followed the guide to the letter, again, very useful.
However...

The cartridge in the changer refuses to eject (so I have no idea if it works as there are no discs in it), although the button seems to work ok (flap open and display says the same), and now my single disc also refuses to eject, and the volume knob turns up & down, but push achieves no on or off- whereas the last 2 items were fine before I breaked about with it!

Help?

Please?  >:(

On, and everything else works perfectly, just the ejects & on/off

I'm 99% sure that half a faulty knob can't be caused by that, but I'll give it a go  :-?

Do you mean a short? The HU has been out and in again several times since, so I think anything like that would either have fixed itself, if not I can't see "re-booting" the rest of the car would help!

well only othere thing it would be is a fault with the head unit coss of sparking when the plug has been taken off and on with the battery still on as live all time for memory and has shocked the loader at same time.

I presume that the CDC3 was working before you ripped it to pieces?

Worth checking that the vertical board that you have transplanted into the CDC3 is seated properly - -

not uncommon for one of the connectors to not be fully "home", so would suggest pulling the board out and refitting it again, just in case.

Nope

If that was the case the fuse would have blown

Never heard anyone say that on here

Never ever had a problem caused by the permanent 12V on any head unit i've ever fitted or removed.

Personally i'd follow Dave's advice, if it worked (to a degree) beforehand then may be something that was disturbed or not seated properly on reassembly. The cartridge eject problem may have existed on the changer when you bought it.....
