I presume that the CDC3 was working before you ripped it to pieces?

Worth checking that the vertical board that you have transplanted into the CDC3 is seated properly - -

not uncommon for one of the connectors to not be fully "home", so would suggest pulling the board out and refitting it again, just in case.

 :-/

Admittedly I could/didn't try it, but the seller (who i've used before) assured me it did. Can't see how that would explain my sudden single eject issue or my knob problem

Sorry, what I mean is the front bezel has it's electrical connection plugged into the top unit, if not fully home you may loose buttons.

The bezels / switchpads can be a bit flaky - ask TheBoy, we've had to repair more than one now as part of a 'quick five minute installation job'!

Ah, I did have a problem with the multipin connector, the whole front was dead for a week or so. Thought I'd fixed that when installing the CDC3, as all else works.
Does seem a strange combination of faults tho

"There's no such thing as a '5 minute job'"

True words them!

On, and everything else works perfectly, just the ejects & on/off
try to Dismantle the front panel and see if it ejects.
if not you probably have torn  Rubber band inside.

Rather than continue this in a PM that I have, is this resolved or not now?

I would be looking for faults on the facia PCB, or the facia to top front board connection....
