Freezer release spray

Anyone got any tips on using that new freezing spray to release rusty bolts?
I'm swapping the cats tomorrow and I don't want to shear the bolts on the manifold so I've bought a tin from Hellfrauds just wondered if there was anything I should or shouldn't be doing?

try and spray only the bolt directly.....  not the surrounding manifold...

the principle is that things shrink when they get cold....   only fractionally but it can be enough to break the crud and seal to allow you to remove the bolt with relative ease.

if you spray indiscriminately, then the surrounding manifold shrinks along with the bolt, and removal is no easier than if you hadn;t used it...   in fact , if you're not careful, it can actually be harder...  and in worst case scenarios , potentially crack the manifold...  especially if it's the slightest bit warm still from running the engine...

this usually means coming up with some heath robinson esque way of directing the spray to best effect.

Front pipe to manifold nuts rarely cause trouble on the 98 onwards cars as the nuts have a helicoil insert in them....
