Changed the front discs / pads on the Omega ready for MOT tomorrow.
The Bremobos I fitted 2 or 3 years ( max. 10k miles)ago still had knackered inner faces, just like any other discs that go on the front of an Omega

To be honest i've found most floating caliper setups do this on the inside disc face, just that the Omega's pads seem to cover less surface area than most so the problem is worse.

This.

Although I'd change most to all.

I agree. Decided theres not much point putting expensive discs / pads on for the same thing to happen again.
It doesnt do many miles and when it does, it doesnt get used in anger much, Got the Boxster for fun driving.

Certainly an issue on Vauxhalls.

Can't say I recall it being an issue on the Rover she did 116k in, can't imagine that was anything more fancy than a single piston floating caliper.  Discs on that only ever got changed due to warping or wear.

Doesn't appear to be an issue on either Jag yet, but buggered if I can remember what the caliper setup is on either.  Sure the rears on the XJ are single piston, thus floating caliper.  Its probably about time I changed the front pads on that, maybe when the weather warms ;D

Battery arrived this morning for the Subaru, all fitted within 20 minutes the old one is approximately 9 years old so not worth chancing it in these low temperatures.

Knocking up a bolt to secure her new spare wheel and hold up the boot floor.  Because JLR were clearly just rummaging through the parts bin when fitting these parts, idiots.

One on left is the supposedly correct one, M6 threaded, that doesn't fit the M8 captive nut it screws into, and is arguably too piddly, hence bent to hell.

One on right is my M8 rod with a couple of 3D printed PETG pieces.

Just need to trim a smidgeon off the rod, and work out the correct place to lock the last nut to, to prevent it being screwed in too far.  Oh, then she has to sort out the felt pad on top, as thats a pink job.

Hmm. Might be interested in the design for that if you'd care to share? Assuming I ever get off my @rse and look for a space saver. ::)
Are you using the raised boot floor or the standard one from before the spare was fitted?

Nice. What SW do you use for drawing parts?

I disagree  ::)
As long as it's genuine JLR wood and glue ,in a hologram stickered JLR box , TB should be fine   :)
I doubt JLR even "make" wood  :D

TB could probably just buy it off ebay without effecting the warranty
though obviously it would NEVER make it to Brackley  >:D

No probs, you can have the STL's, but let me test it first.

Check the thread on your existing (short) post, as if it's M6, you can have the post that doesn't fit mine.

I bought another boot floor, to raise it. Downside is, with the one you have, you can open the floor fully to get to battery etc.  With the spare wheel boot floor, it only opens a little bit before the boot hinges stop it.  That moron Callum didn't think that one through ;D.  That said, I'd rather suffer those minor inconveniences than rely on glue and a compressor.

Parts needed are:
Spare wheel
Boot floor
Said part in image above, to suit the thread in your battery clamp
Foam insert for the jack etc
Jack
Wrench
Chocks (not necessary, and no longer supplied if you spec a spare wheel from new)

I paid £240 for a kit of the above, off eGay

That was a quick 'n' dirty Tinkercad design, as have to use a web based design tool when at work, as they won't let us install stuff, gets.  Tinkercad is good enough for simpler designs, gets cumbersome for complex designs.  But I use it a lot, as its handy for sharing easily between work and home without the hassles of software or encrypting USB drives.

Well, that depends on the seller.  Some are geared up for it.  Far too many CBA to go to the PO to post it, because they are bone idle (sorry, were rushed to hospital/died/whatever).  And then the Chinks claiming to be British, and "Fast and Free" yet still post from Ching Chong Chinaland.
