Sorry, MCE = Media Center Edition - a rather clever version of XP that acts like a PVR (as well as a PC). So in effect its a PC (in a nice VCR style case) that sits under TV. So as well as recording TV, it can play DVDs, XVids etc, and browse the internet, play games etc etc...  :D

Media Center (yes, its american) has a guide and playback interface very similar to Sky+ - so its a bit like Sky+ for Freeview (does work with Sky as well - depends on your tv cards). So easy, even Mrs TheBoy can use it for the basic stuff ;)

Its funny reading a similar thread on the "other" place, they all vote Vectra.

I would have the Mondeo personally, looks better & less in your face. Slower to 60 but handles so much better and more fun to drive.

Totally agree.  I had a new Vectra Estate for a couple of weeks and hated it.  Even with a 1.8 it understreers quite dramatically.  [smiley=shocked.gif]

Omega VXR, now there would have been a class car.

Take the 6.0 V8 from the Monaro, and wack into the Omega, rear wheel drive, V8 power. Peeerfect  :)

Then because Omega's are so Practical, Gas it as well. Be as cheap to run as Ford Focus on petrol  :)

You would have to reinstall the turbo though as it is fitted on the back of the engine. It would be amazing fun though.

100bhp per ton WITH a caravan on the back - not just ordinary cars but some warm cars would be easy meat.

Don't worry it is just that when you drive on the A30 through Devon and Cornwall the one thing you want is power, sitting on these hills red lining a 2.0CD in second and try to prevent it going for 3rd is quite tiring.

Now will an AR35 handle 255bhp?

If you're in an NTL cable area, you can watch it (and loads of other progs) at any time by selecting the "on demand" button on the remote.

I watched it last night - Jezza would still hate Vectra's even if they went and handled like an F1 car! Still, gotta say the understeer was reeeeally apalling. Also thought the argument over the Dodge Charger was really funny but Hammond is never gonna win coz Jezza always has the last word.

Best bit of the show was the three of them trying their hand at caravanning - bl**dy hilarious, especially when Clarkson set fire to their caravan while trying to cook ;D ;D ;D

Well, I thought the basic rule of thumb was AR35 = 350 BHP, but apparently it's not as straight forward as that.

All I know is that me an' a couple of the ABS guys have mildly tuned their 24v Senators/Carltons and achieved a ballhair away from 250 BHP. At that point the box was starting to complain a bit, but an ECU upgrade seemed to cure some of it's ails.

I though it was based on torque (i.e. real power!) and not bhp.....as in an AR35 is good for 350Nm.....

Hmm..

Well if HP = (Torque*RPM)/5252 then the AR35 should handle an engine that produces 258hp at 5252RPM and therefore about 320hp at 6500rpm...

hp is a bit less than bhp though.

Thats what I would like to know, they still look good today!! They should still be making them IMO

Vaux being the idiots they are just did not give it the engines it chassis and built qauilty deserved.

Need a big juicy V8 as a new MV8 & the police would have bought them buy the truck load, put the Turbo unit in the VXR as a mid sport model. And get the new 3.5 Diesel unit off BMW, or even the older 3.0 Diesel

I tried to measure mine a few timesand came up with arond 6.7 - 6.9 depending on the way the wind blew and mine wasn't the most powerful one.

if you mean the lumps fitted to the 530d and 535d ... I remember hearing that the 535d is in fact a 3 litre engine too - however it is a twin turbo unit instead of the single one fitted to the 530d, they called it the 535d to make it easier to differentiate between the two. Marketing ploys again ...  ::)
