Managed to get two of the screws undone. Turns out they're actually E10 torx. The garage can fight the other two as they have a bracket stuck over them making it almost impossible to get a decent purchase on them so rather than round them off I have soaked them in oil and let them be.
Also started to investigate why the rear windows don't work. Some basic poking got the motors out and established that the motor physically turns freely and its gearbox moves without issue, as do the regulators... I did wonder if the windows had stuck in the frames, but the regulators move without issue if you manually move the windows, so frames lubed with PTFE spray.
Electrically, the switches work but there's something amiss in the door ECUs as there is a short between the two power feeds to the motor regardless of switch position which suggests a fault within the door ECUs as they contain relays that supply the motor rather than a software issue.
I blame modern cars. Remote and isolated from the outside World. Overpowered, yes, overpowered. Just why do we need top speeds of 130+ mph and 150/250 + BHP? Please explain. I would add that I've had more than my fair share of speeding tickets.

Fair play to the marketing bods for upselling that, but surely an EV doesn't really require actual brakes given the regenerative braking power...
And presumably if you knock it into neutral it would simply roll to a stop
Yes, there doesn’t appear to be an explanation why this wasn’t possible. I was bored so I looked on the iPace forum and they’re confused why this wasn’t possible as well. I’m guessing they’d blame an electrical or software fault prevented this from happening.
I’ll have to remember the old runaway story if I’m ever unlucky enough to get pulled over again. Yes officer, the pedal was stuck to the floor for a few minutes but we’re all good now. Hmm, do you think they’d believe me.
Sounds like a seat-steering wheel interface issue to me. Which isn't surprising given the standard of driving these days.
Of course, if the battery can't take any charge you have no regen braking - unless you want the aforementioned inferno.

Serious issues with EV’s, whether hyped up by the press or genuine issues, have done nothing to help sales either. We’ve had battery fires by self igniting cars and now we have software brake failure and vehicles getting stuck at speed and unable to stop. Not a great selling point is it.

Mind you, my car is the V6 diesel, and I'm apparently guaranteed a snapped crank before 100k.... ....so I assumed it must have snapped about 60k ago, and I've not noticed
Personally, I would never buy an engine with rear mounted chains as that such a retarded design. Fortunately, I am unlikely to ever buy a JLR or VAG product, it's unlikely to be much of an issue.
I know Mercedes engines have their issues, but at least the parts that have the majority of the problems are accessible.
