For Sale: One slightly used tow pole
« on: 12 November 2012, 10:53:22 »

Excellent condition.

Also included, the facelift rear tow eye, almost as new - despite the thread being bent, it screws in lovely with a crowbar

I know it's fun to overtake Tunnie in his 4 pot, but best done when not on tow.  ;D

Oh, hang on, you said rear towing eye? :-\

Did you not instruct your dear lady wife on correct towing procedures then? :)

Of course. And she is well versed at doing it. She just gets into a fluster, and straight into "fluffy bunny" world, which ends in tears bent poles.

Its hard not to overtake him... ...my car doesn't go that slow ;D

I recall, after the LPG "incident" with the conversion, Daz towing it up the A34 on the way to MDTM's at 75mph. We were laughing that the slowest its ever been on the A34 ;D

Nothing wrong with the Mk. 1 rope, IMHO. You know when to brake with one of them. It reminds you by wrapping itself round one of the front hubs, disconnecting the brake hose in the process.  ;D

She had a habit of running over the rope, causing it to snap.

I find if you accelerate through the "nagging speed" 'til you're on the ragged edge they go quiet again, then they can safely be transported in the same car, and you don't need to bother with towing at all. ;)

That's my theory, come on TB keep up.

...although to be fair, in his case the window between nagging speed and thick ear speed is a little smaller. ;D

Oh, I've yet to find out if mine has a thick ear speed. She has a "silence maintained for a week longer than intended" speed which you have to be careful of. ::)

How? I need that now.

Mrs TB "Silent treatments" only last an hour or so, once the realisation creeps in I'm enjoying the peace, and am NOT going to ask "whats wrong"

I know the pole is probably "past its best" .. but hopefully no damage to the Bullet ??

I'd say no. I have one that's exactly the same shape as that of Jamie's & that was a replacement of another that did the same. Maybe the none spring version might be better ......  :-\ :-\ :-\
I just wish I'd made my own when I had the chance to. I made one up for a lad where I used t work, 3 lengths of box section (2" & 11/2") that fitted inside itself with a similar hook to the Machine Mart poles. I'm sure I could've towed a bus with it.  ;D ;D

TB, that poles not nearly bent enough. Lend it to MDTM, he does a proper job on them.

I like the ones used by RAC, 8 foot long and seemingly solid steel.

I was thinking along the lines of something heavier quality, seen them with a tow ball fitting to go onto the towbar of the towing car, and look to be made of box section..... :D :D

Apparently we are going to in for a very bad winter.... ::) ::)

Mine was damaged due to misuse. She drove over it, despite being attached to both cars. Don't ask. Just don't ask.

It had seen a reasonable amount of use, including several Omegas, which are close to its weight limit (don't think I've used it on anything heavier).

The damper does take out a lot of the inexperience of the driver being towed. *IF* they remember to turn the wheel ::)
