We STILL haven't!
Shepherd's pie is made with sheepmeat - lamb if you are lucky, mutton or worse if you ain't; cottage pie isn't made from bits of cottage, but beef, or near offer..... ::)

That is my understanding, Dave, unless you buy a microwave one from the supermarket. Then they both contain eyelids and connective tissue with copious amounts of chemicals to make them appear palatable.

Maybe this is trying to outdo the Word Association thread . . . . . ;D

Sweeny Todd says that Shepherds Pie must contain real shepherd meat . . . . . .

Is shepherds pie made with lamb (spelt with a b but not recognised by this silly system!! ;D)mince and cottage pie made with beef mince.....or is it other way round  :-\

No, no!!  Not that! Not that rubbish.  That's the mans way of having these pies!  :o :o D ;D  ;D ;D

Buy quality beef or lamp mince from Sainsbury's, mix in a casserole dish with chopped (fresh) pre boiled carrots, sliced/diced onion, chopped green pepper, salt, pepper, gravy powder, 3 Oxo cubes, mixed with boiling water and cook in an oven for 1.5 hours at 180c.

Separately peel and cut 6 large potatoes, boil those for 25 minutes, than mash with plenty of butter (add grated cheese if you like). Empty the casserole contents out into a large lasagna dish, then cover with the mash.  Place under a light grill and wait under some browning takes place. Then serve and enjoy.  That's the way to do it! :-* :-* :-* :-* :y
