Omega General Help / Exhaust
« on: 14 December 2016, 16:45:00 »
I've been changing the exhaust on my 2.2 (did my old 2.6 MV6 - seemed much easier).  I'm also in the process of replacing the front pipe and cat (I've read about sticking with genuine but I need car back on the road asap and I've retained the old one to perhaps drop round the Marks DTM to get it refurbed  ;) )

Anyway, took the heatshield off the manifold and was presented with the image below - this looks like a crack to me however there wasn't any 'soot' on the back of the heatshield.

I've noticed that the car doesn't seem to have much low end 'grunt', well less than expected but maybe I've been spoiled from my old S-Type.  Is this a possible symptom or is it just that this is a characteristic of the 2.2 petrol?  Was trying to go for Jame's Omega but wifey put her foot down even though I said she could have the equivalent spend in jewellery  ;D

Checked the postbox today to find a letter addressed to me - did wonder whether it was a lottery cheque or tax refund so got a bit excited  :D

On opening said letter it was notice of intent to prosecute 48 in a 40 >:(

Now when I used live down sarf we did have speed cameras but no where near the number that we have here in Nottingham most of which I know about and respect (stay within the speed limit).  This was a mobile jobbie at the end of a 50mph stretch - a dual cariageway with no residential properties or pedestrian walkways in the immediate area.

In other words is just a cash cow for the local dibbles.

General Car Chat / Re: Replacing CV Boot on Zafira
« on: 28 November 2016, 20:21:21 »
Just get a decent quality boot and bring it up.  will chuck it on for you.

What little you save with a flexi its not worth bothering with.
Got any spring compressors, as I need to do front spring at same time...

Not knowing how long its been split for, is there a way to tell if CV has survived?  No clicking on full lock, but at ramming speed yesterday, sounded like a speed related wheel bearing type noise, but it was a headwind, and that car does suffer windnoise.

Think I've got some if you need them - just round the corner

See how friendly we are in Nottingham  ;D ;D ;D

Will be after Tech2 to enable my cruise once I've got round to fitting the stalk - I'll drop you line if that's okay?

FLY TIP

Just swapped out my front seats and being a responsible resident and council tax payer took the old seats to my recycling centre (dump in old money) to be told they couldn't accept them as they are classed as 'commercial waste' and not household waste.

I queried this as the seats were from my car, swapped over by me on my 'household' property.  They  informed me they could take my battery and my old oil but any other vehicle part was not permissable.  Where am I supposed to take them then ask I - 'to a scrap yard' was the reply.

No wonder there's been such a big increase in fly tipping over the last few years  :-\ :-\

So anybody want a couple of MV6 cloth seats - driver's is a bit raggedy arsed but all the mechanisims and heatpads work. ;D  Failing that does anybody know of a scrap yard in south nottingham?

Thanks for that  ;)
