Just to put the record straight (and I'm mystified as to the hilarity here...!!) this identity is my Fleebay ID and came into being when I was staying with a Vicar friend (who officiated at my wedding, so has been a mate for a good 36 years).I was pondering on an original name and Ric The Vic typed in "Legofpork" and entered it before I knew. The reference is to my liking for a particular cut of meat obtained from the Gloucester Old Spot. I'd be interested to know if the term has another usage.......

Thanks again for all the info., confirmed as exhaust manifold stud missing as of yesterday, it goes in for paint on the rear bumper today and Thursday for the exhaust issue, I'll make sure it gets the proper GM manifold gasket put on.

Thanks, surprising what you remember when you have your memory jogged.... I had a 2.0 Tourer about 12 years ago and guess what, it developed a ticking noise not at all dissimilar to the one I've got now, front 2 exhaust manifold bolts had gone.... so that'll be the 1st job Monday morning. Cam belt, pulleys and pump were done 22k miles ago, oil is like a mountain stream...clear, as opposed to being full of dead sheep! Thanks again.

Omega General Help / 2.2 petrol engine "tapping" can anyone help?
« on: 04 December 2011, 20:29:41 »
Hello, I've just purchased a 2.2 petrol manual gearbox 02 plate estate, since I bought it I've covered around 300 miles. Today I noticed a light "tapping" on tickover, and sometimes further up the rev range. The noise dissapears just off tickover.  Does this engine suffer from "lazy" hydraulic tappets? Does anyone know if this is common on the 2.2 engine?
The car has done 56k miles, full service history, 10w 40 fully synthetic oil and filter change every 4k miles and drives perfectly. Any help would be appreciated before it goes in to have surgery, I need this sorting as this sort of thing drives me up the wall.

Thanks, Tony

Hello all, just joined the site having purchased my 5th Omega in around 10 years. Started with a 2.0 Tourer (they've all been estates by the way) and currently waiting to collect a 3.0 MV6 manual.

I'm getting on in years, 53, but still feel the need for rear wheel drive and a bit of speed, currently living in France, but plans are in place to return to the UK.

Any straightforward performance tips would be appreciated.
