Leather conditioner
« on: 12 November 2023, 11:11:11 »

I bought some Gliptone leather conditioner based one a few reviews including here that it has a wonderful leather smell.  I put it on my steering wheel.  However to me it smells very chemical, of mothballs even.  My car interior used to smell what I think of as leather - difficult to describe but a pleasant very slightly yeasty smell.  Does anyone know what conditioner has that smell?

The Gliptone does work very well it's just the smell I don't like.

Magic trees....    ....I used to have about 10m if the buggers, because everyone thought it was funny. I blame those DTM and that Hotel21 troublemakers!

Mind you, I hate leather seats with a passion. Who ever came up with that needs stringing up.

Sorry, I found all of those leather leathers and conditioning creams smelt of Domestos.

Only ever used Autoglym  on my vehicles never noticed any kind of smell & the leather has always looked perfect .

Clean and treat mine with Autoglym cleanser and cream. Doesn't quite smell like a saddlery, but enough scent to know it's been done, especially as part of a thorough clean :y

I have tried various types of leather upholstery products, and for me I  find the Gliptone cleaner and conditioner works the best, and seems to retain the leather smell in the cars, both with my classic and moderns.

One is not amused, Mr B.  >:(

Actually, joking aside, there were so many I couldn't find initially, that made it so intense, I started getting nosebleeds whilst driving if I didn't have the windows open.  Took me ages to find all of them!

Yes I forgot to mention that Gliptone also smells of bleach to me.  Just tried a magic tree (AKA Little trees") leather flavour - it smells quite similar to the Gliptone to me.

The old smell of the car which I liked was completely different, more like freshly baked bread but I assumed was coming from the leather or previous leather treatment as no sign of air freshners.  It had been there nearly a year until I put the Gliptone on.

Does it have the stains to go with it?
