Rear wiper on miggie estate
« on: 09 August 2006, 13:01:35 »

Just a quickie guys....do you have to buy a special wiper for the tailgate from VX? The reason I ask is because I've fitted 2 new wipers on mine now and neither of them clears the rear window properly due to the convex of the glass. If not, can anyone recommend one that does the job properly (the last one I bought was Bosch)?

I've got a similar problem though I think it may be due to the spring tension on the wiper arm?

Vaux ones are different to the pattern items (they are also about the cheapest!).

They never seem to fully wipe the screen, I am currently experimenting with mine to get the best coverage by bending the arm slightly.

Thanks for that guys....I thought I was the only one with this problem!! I'll try bending the arm first to see if I can get some improvement, if not I'll get a new arm fitted next time it goes to the miggie doctor. The spring does seem a bit weak so this may be the way to go.

Ive had the same problem with Bosh rear blades.  I have seen elsewhere that a genuine Vx blade assembly has softer springing on the wiper so will flex better.

Vx ones are more flexible....than Bosch....but even tho mine now has a vx blade it still misses the bottom part of the screen,
maybe as Pete says it needs a new arm....or bending it a bit, as Mark is trying.

I think myself I will probably get a new arm....as the flip cover for the nut holding the arm on is missing ( i assume its a flip cover...i must check on next estate meega i see parked up) ...and its one of the little things that bugs me.

Oh rite...cheers Mark....i assumed it was one of those bits that you have to buy the bigger bit to get the smaller bit!
And bet the vx dealer will have wiper arms in stock and not the nut cover  :-/

Will ask on Friday....as gotta get oil filter & plugs & air filter...unfortunately TC card hasnt come yet....but it carnt wait.
Actually might goto Halfauds and use their Trade card......other site is reporting 50% savings on the bits i need which is a lot cheaper than vx ordinary trade prices.  ;)
