Being a country boy, I should be better at ornithology, but my misspent youth was looking at other forms of bird.
Can anyone identify the bird in the clip *Warning 275Mb*

I was thinking either a red kite or a kestrel, but could be wide of the mark :-[

Think you are right with red kite

Red Kite. Got a pair round hoof'land, that regularly harras the sea gulls, and pigeons.
-
Too big for a Kestrel
-
Im no expert by any means, but we have Red kites around here and it looks pretty similar.
We also have Buzzards nesting nearby, and in the grounds at work. I think they are quite a bit bigger.

The video not working properly on my ipad, but it looks big enough to be a buzzard. Lots of both here in the Kennet valley.
-
Positive that is a Red Kite.

Buzzards are very lazy, they don't like to fly unless they have too, that's why you see them sat on fencing, etc near main roads, looking for easy meals. Were as a Kite will dive and savage a pigeon.

Definitely a red kite, quite a lot around here and often see them around work :y

Thanks guys, seems they are more common than I remember - I lived near and remember where they re-introduced them into the Chilterns about 30 years ago, so in my simple mind they must be rare. But looking at the links above, seems they have become common again :y. Even in deepest Brackleyshire ;D

I expected this thread to, at the very least, have a few links to some nice tits :-\

They've obviously followed Terbs up the M40 :D

Beautiful creatures, so its nice to see their numbers increasing. 8)
Need to be careful of them when little Dora is outside though. They would pick her up and take her home for their supper. :'(

Paint an effing big eye on her shell, that will confuse them.

I remember there were several news stories some years ago when some were released into the wild at Chatsworth House in the hope that they would thrive and increase the numbers, which happily they have done.

There was a piece on them on Countryfile a few weeks ago where this guy was feeding them. There was a big flock of them. I like raptors. :y

I think they're just for posing in, you can't actually shift muck in them or anything.

Red Kites love potato peelings , we have a friend near Leeds who has a large plot of land adjacent to her house and puts peelings out for them, they really are magnificent birds to watch circling & feeding.

Not withstanding a certain amount of clenching, when one is eyeing up over a grands worth of DJI's finest ;D

Yeah, me too, although I missed the bit when it flies towards it during the flight, only saw that bit when I looked at the footage once it was back home.
