Thats not bad, Once took me 6 hours to get from Stairfoot to Wickersley. Saying thatmost of the time was trying to get up 2 of the hills on one of the estates in a Fiat Uno with just legal tyres on it.  Thoses were the days.

no worries here in the Velar (they have M&S tyres as standard)  :y

Always found the diesel Zaf pretty good in the snow (as long as the summer tyres still had tread, never got stuck an used to pass many others stuck on the hills around Melton (heavy diesel engine directly over the driving wheels helps a lot)

that way it will be summer weather by next week  8)  :P

Just dreary rain here. Which is annoying as I'm trying to get some electricity in the cars, esp after TBE's alarm triggered yesterday (trigger code was door switch, but live data off the eco was just showing weird contradictory results until the battery voltage went up).

Never ever really had troubles in snow, beyond other traffic coming to a standstill for hours on end.

I bought a Vauxhall Vive Estate in the 80's as a run arround for my business.  Fitted BMW 3 series steel wheels on it with a set of Colway M&S tyres on . . .the car did me proud and would easily tackle deep (fresh) snow.

When the snow was gone it left Mud . . ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) :-X :y
Skinny tyres are much better in the snow.

Especially when fitted to a small, lightweight car.

Used to have an 899cc Fiat Cinquecento for work in London years ago (mid-2000s) and was brilliant in the snow and ice with little 145 13” tyres. Scared many a work colleague giving them a lift into work using the handbrake and gears to slow down and navigate turns 😅.  Think one time I did not use the brakes all the way from Bexley to Lewisham via Eltham.....

You could see the snow falling here but the rain far outweighed it so it didn't settle.

4WD vs having the right tyres for the conditions? No contest.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc0x4sQkxxM

I've got a spare set of rims with proper winter tyres on them. The racing slicks come off in November and go back on in May. Also got a set of snow chains in the boot.

No school run tomorrow, she has decided to close both schools. I've told her it's her turn to take the dog out and too bring me a cup of coffee before she leaves.

I don't allow her to, Dave, she leaves far too early for me to be woken up.  ;D

You do know that Panda is 4WD too?

I've hired them a couple of times when in Fuerteventura/Lanzarote.  Literally nothing can stop them!  A brilliant little car.

I've seen a couple on tv (can't remember where) doing hill climbs. Never get bogged down, but I still wouldn't have one  ;D
