i filled up 10 days ago at sainsburys e5 soon as i went down the road could smell fumes like bit petrolly had the smell till i topped up 50 quid at a jet garage smell disappearde but now car not firing as usual and the revs when idling go up and down like itll cut out no cut out yet but needs 2 or 3 times starting it ever since i had that lousy fuel from sainsburys.maybe caused problems with the mixture.im lost never had this prob before.

No one has yet pointed it out, but do you mean you filled up with E5?

If so I recommend you do not as E10 is suitable for our 3.2's, and mine has run perfectly on it since it first came on the market. ;)
Scaremongering rubbish.

E5 and E10 are both perfectly fine in most everything, including all Omegas.

In British English, the past participle of the verb get is got. In American English, people say gotten. ** Note that have got is commonly used in both British and American English to speak about possession or necessity. have gotten is not correct here.

Eh?  What are you on about again? ::) ::)

There is a difference between the two fuels, as I think John has found out.

What it is you failed to notice that John had posted "e5" and if he uses E10 then he will find all will be ok.

Oh, yes I use Sainsbury's all the time as I have done for decades and no doubt due to their huge turnover of fuel none of it has ever given me any problems.  Obviously it is always possible to find contaminated fuel, but I recommend John just uses E10 before going through the work of checking anything else on his car.  We all should know that often it is the simple answers that meet our challenges!

His complaint was contaminated fuel. The type of fuel was irrelevant as his complaint would have been equally valid if he had filled a diesel generator with a batch of contaminated red diesel.

E10 is the newfangled muck that everyone is whining about, E5 is what we have been buying for years.

So again, all scaremongering rubbish.

Especially as he hasn't bothered responding to his previous post on the subject...

OK DG, I understand  that. :y

But with both posts he assumes his fuel is contaminated, without proof just circumstantial evidence.  His problems also seem to have continued, despite using other petrol which suggests it could well be another issue.

As for E5, I have not bought super-unleaded  for two decades, not since trading in my Senator.  I have used the near equivalent of E10, in other words standard unleaded, in all my 3.0's and 3.2 without any issue. ;)

I use E5 super ,often from Sainsburys as it's convenient.

you could get a bad tank of fuel from anywhere  ,pot luck really regardless of what it is  E5 , E10 , diesel , biodiesel

just like that cheap electric that don't brown your toast enough   ::)

My last three tanks have been Shell V Power, but that's to try and help the emissions rather than the ethanol percentage.

The Barge doesn't appreciate it though... No improvement of MPG which is contrary to previous experience with V Power, although it has coincided with the drop in temperatures.
