The PROTEC fuel pipe arrived from Demon tweeks  :)

one end 8mm ID (fuel pump outlet spigot)
one end 9.5mm ID (spigot on the outlet plate)
no instructions  ::) , some plastic shrinks when heated , some stretch  ;)
It required  heating to get the pipe to stretch onto the spigots

A youtube video showed some suicidal maniac heating the pipe with an electric hot air gun  :o
(sparks from the motor brushes and a glowing heating element  ::))
being an in petrol tank connection I opted NOT to use that method or a flame  ;D
i heated the ends gently with boiling water and they slid on . :)
I also added small (10-12mm) fuel line clamps (being a 4 Bar pump)

https://www.protecfuelpumps.com/fuel-hose-and-connector/

Part number PTC14503
convoluted in tank fuel hose 280mm Length, 8mm & 9.5mm ID ends
example image

also worthy of note ....
As we found out, there are 2 sizes of fuel pump ,
the pipe above fits the BOSCH 815038 9196213 pump as fitted to my 53 plate facelift 2.6 SALOON

Swapped out a snapped exhaust clamp on the merc, strange looking failure!

Corrosion and a material flaw, helped along by heat cycling leading to a fatigue fracture.

Basically, you need a new one, and if such a thing were part of an ongoing inspection regime, you would have needed a new one sooner when the crack was first spotted :D

Replaced the PCV hoses on the Barge and washed it for the first time in three months :-[

That said, it scrubbed up alright, so it pays to properly wash and polish it every so often :y

When I replaced the turbo / cam seal / cam belt / alternator belt on Pierre early in the year I didnt bother reattaching the various bits of plastic, because I wasnt sure it would run for long without going bang.
Now Ive sorted its latest problem and its running ok (for the moment) I spent much of today refitting them all.
So upper and lower cambelt covers (a complete pita of a job) wheelarch liner, battery box,and both undertrays.
It must be nearly 2kg heavier tonight than it was this morning.  :)
Wash and vac it tomorrow, then a few bits to do on the Omega.
After that probably take the Boxster off the road until spring and work through all the bits & pieces that need doing on it.

Washed & vacuumed the Range Rover after 10 days of driving around the Yorkshire Moors area, hate seeing it mucky now gleaming & tucked away in the garage.

Fixed a puddle light on the rear door of the RR it's never worked since I've had it, bought myself a set of trim removers off the bay for a tenner, levered the lower part of the door card off & simply reattached the connector and its all gone back perfectly , right tools for the job no scratches at all..😁

Permanently removed eight fault codes from the Barge...

By retrofitting Soft Close...  ::)

Only in Mercedesland would that even be deemed a solution  ;D

Still, it is starting to add up to being the best spec Ed S280 ever made... (Probably the only one in the UK with Bixenons, Soft Close, Parking sensors, headlight washers and heated washer bottle) Which is nice 8)

Following a vigorous jet wash session on my little used Jaguar S type (2000) I found a major lake of water in the near side carpet :o

Going into panic mode I attempted to drain the "lake" using a Vax.

Next job was to find out how the water had got into the interior. Examining the various door seals they all looked in good condition and the sunroof drain tubes were clear.

The soundproofing on the near side front firewall was also soaking wet which suggested that the water was coming via the engine bay.

After stripping out the front screen lower plastic cover I found the remnants of a mouse/squirrel nest and the drain hole on the near side was stuffed with have eaten walnut shells.

Looks like the water had backed up and flooded through the heater fan intake and into the car.

This car had hardly been used since Covid. It just goes to show that living in the countryside has it's downside.

Living in the countryside has nothing to do with it... Over time even leaves and detritus will do the same thing.

It’s called preventative maintenance for a reason :D

Hopefully the damage is limited to a puddle :-\

Spent a couple of hours trying to ascertain why an Astra-H with keyless entry won't attempt to start, unsuccessfully.

Cheap cloned Chinese digs tat wasn't being very helpful at all, and for proper diags for an Astra-H you need a Tech 2 and a CANdi, neither of which I currently have ;D

I know Gixer has the Tech2, CANdi still to be tracked down!
