The ornament passed it's MOT today  :)

So that's two down, one to go  ::)
Congratulations on the MOT  :)
Doing your wife's Astra last then ? I'm sure she won't notice and hold it against you  :P

Yeh, it's not due until Dec 30th and if it needs anything i'm working away most of next week so decided to hang fire with it just for a week.

Was looking through the documents for the ornament, by January i'll have owned it 14 years!  :o

My Mum has mobility problems .... she needs her walker or an arm to hold to walk the length of herself. She struggled to lift her leg high enough to get into my ML  :( but she manages OK to get into their Chrysler Voyager  :-\

We've become so accustomed to car doors that hinge at the front that we think they're 'correct', and ridicule the cars that have sliding or rear-hinged doors. Yet people with mobility problems love them because they work better - there's only a narrow space for putting your feet into a car, and a front-hinged door takes up a lot of it. Note how the bigger Rolls Royce has a rear hinged back door for the owner to get and out easily.

Much the same applies to modern low, sloping rooflines; you have to bend your body in another way at the same time as bending your waist, knees and ankles and lots of people can't do it. Just look at the number of elderly people who drive Fiesta/Focus Fusions,  Honda Jazzes, Jukes, Sanderos etc, and it's why the smaller crossovers are so popular.

My mum an dad used to have one of these....there also higher off the ground which helps if your elderly  :y

A couple of former colleagues had them, but neither had any particular interest in cars. One hates himself so much that he replaced a manual Fusion with his MILs CVT one upon her demise because it was a year newer...  :D

If I were to go down the small urban hatchback then it would be another A Class, but for the price of a reasonable one, I may as well buy something totally inappropriate  :D

Barge retested and passed. Which is nice.

Still not worth a packet of chocolate buttons though  ::)

That's a fault with the gearbox rather than the owner. CVTs are universally awful. I used to find it odd that Ford bothered with the ordinary Fiesta/Focus as well as the Fusion variants. The success of their current mix of taller crossovers/SUVs/other ghastly names shows they were simply hedging their bets.

If I had to replace the Focus - which is technically my mother's car - to move them around, I'd be looking at a Meriva or similar tall car with sliding or rear hinged rear doors simply for access reasons. Hell, a car that doesn't require climbing up out of the seats has significant appeal to me ;D

I sympathise with that. Especially first thing in the morning or after a night fighting carpet.

Sorry you will need to search for RVR👍

Not a chance, I’ve had a couple of RVR and I love Vauxhalls, but apart from the abysmal fuel economy of the Mitsubishi, the  VXR is not even in the same league.

I can thoroughly recommend the Zafira A 2.0 DTi for transporting old people  :)
as long as I don't have to drive it
