Differences in BRAKES b/n Pre-Post Facelift.
« on: 07 February 2008, 18:12:42 »

Here in the states we have two different rear brake set-ups, both vented that came with the Sport versions and non-vented that came on all others.
Why is there a difference between the calipers and can we see some more pictures of the brakes on your cars, I am trying to determine which set came with what cars in the case of the various engines in EU.

Here is a picture of the difference of the ones in the states...

As far as i know all our pre facelifts were solid rear discs and post facelifts were vented on the rear, thats the only difference. AFAIK.

Does it matter which engine the car had, I would think that the smaller engines would carry the non vented brakes... also another note is that a single piston caliper vs, the dual pison on the right? or were they all dual piston non floating rears...

The listing is only done on year of manufacture not on engine size, and the pads are the same for both types.
Thats all i know i am afraid. :-/

No dont worry Jim, its all good any pictures or info on anything would be helpfull, I ma just trying to learn and in the process create some records that future users can look at, and hopefully find all this usefull.

I should post some of my Dual piston Fronts for comparison I guess...

Speaking of front brakes here are the Single Piston OEM vs. the DUAL piston Alum Calipers from the Monaro/GTO..

 Hi CateraMV6,
Vauxhall for a long time have fitted single piston calipers on the front and duel pistons on the rear, if you want to upgrade them, forget the Monaro/GTO and fit a nice set of Four pots, (WILWOOD are cheap your side of the pond) there is a small amount of flex in a all single pot caliper and a even smaller amount in a four pot system  :y
