Brakes

BazaJT:
The last time my Omega was out of the garage[for a short drive around the yard in front of the lock up]a couple of years ago the n/s front brake "grabbed" before the o/s,admittedly the yard surface is hard packed dirt with stones/grit on top.So the brakes obviously need work, not to mention that at present the brake pedal hits the floor now without the brakes working! I fitted a new master cylinder some time ago and some time before that a new n/s rear caliper[the o/s rear was free].My thinking now is to do a rebuild on the o/s rear and both fronts as new front calipers seem to be above £100 each[which is more than twice the price of front calipers for my V70 :o. The question is as I can't recall what master cylinder/rear caliper I bought how do I tell which brake system my car has? I've seen used front calipers[not that I'm thinking of buying them]which says they're for a Lucas system while new calipers or rebuild kits say they're for either Girling or ATE systems,so potentially three systems to choose from :-\

BazaJT:
Oops! Apart from this should have been in Omega help section  I should also have said car in question is a year 2000 F/L 3 litre Elite saloon.

Keith ABS:
I think that Lucas and Girling are the same but some one else will be along shortly to state that I am wrong

Enceladus:
Have you checked that the slider pins on the front calipers are free to move? From your description it might be that one side is seized. If so, buff the pins and rubber boots and re-grease. Or replace with new pins and rubber boots. And clean the bores.

The rear caliper will be ATE, Ø42mm pistons for vented rear discs and Ø40mm for solid rear discs.
The fronts with Ø296mm discs are TRW which is now a subsidiary of ZF. Seem to have been manufactured by Lucas Girling under license. Piston Ø57mm.

BazaJT:
Thanks to TB for the thread move :y Yes solid rear discs on mine[weren't the vented rears only on the 3.2 and possibly 2.6?] Must admit I've not yet delved too deeply into this so it could be the slider pins, thanks for the suggestion and also dimensions.
