Facelift heated seats.
« on: 11 January 2022, 16:22:44 »

I've read in the guide that because the facelift seat heat have 2 settings that they are not compatible with the mini facelift system. Ignoring the other differences can they be adapted to suit?
Thanks.

What do you want to do, MFL seats in FL, or vice versa

(Note, pre MFL seat belt tensioners are incompatible with later)

Eh ???

Face-lift have five settings controlled via a dial switch.

Existing pre tensioner (and airbag*) can be swapped onto any replacement Omega seat in order to preserve the vehicle wiring.

* bear in mind that side airbags were optional on some pre/mini face-lift cars. If the seat doesn't have the mounting points, then you will not be able to retrofit them.

The heated base section on my mini facelift drivers seat is not working. Just weighing up my options and as facelifts are more plentiful was going to buy a seat with a working heating element and swap the leather over as I believe it's part of the cushion cover.
Thanks.

In theory a good idea, but the faceloft seats have a resistor for the variable switch. Also be mindful that the face-lift seat heaters aren't known for their durability  ;)

You cannot fit a FL seat and expect the heater to work, as they are electrically different.  You probably could convert a FL seat, but would mean stripping the seat to get to the heating controller that is in the padded part of the seat base.

I said in my first post I know they don't work I'm asking if you can just use the cushion cover.
