[size=16]Finally, the York meet has been booked for Sat 27-28th![/size]
I have now booked a site just outside York (Rufforth). By the sound of it, we will possibly have the site to ourselves!
So, If you fancy the any of the following, get your names down:-
· General Meet up
· BBQ's + Beer!
· Repairing / Servicing the Migs (I’ve got a generator which I can bring + lots of tools etc)
· Trading spare parts
· Meeting new members
· Retail park down the road
I have so far managed to get hold of 2 gazebos, which cars can be driven inside / undercover which should handy when fixing them. I have a 3rd gazebo, however I’m unsure if it’s complete (will check today). Also I ‘Should’ have access to a large tent (am told you could fit 2 x minibuses inside it!) :)
(Will post more details on the site very shortly, along with prices - more people go, cheaper it is! I guess it would be around £7.50 - £10 ish) :y

Ive just put this together this morning, and its quite a bit bigger than the other two gazebos :D - Can prob fit the front end of two omegas just under cover for service / cambelt jobs etc! :)

Question about food / drinks etc...
Do you want me to buy EVERYTHING we need? I dont mind providing people pay up!
I was thinking about going to booker cash and carry (trade supplier) so will be cheaper than going to tesco etc
If you like that idea, just let me know what you want, and how many etc!
Also same again with bits for the car... VX is 1 min down the road, I can order oils / filters / plugs / belts etc and bring them down on sat! Just let me know

If the numbers stay as they are, Price will be £10 each... (the more people, the cheaper it gets!)
There are toilets / showers available at the site. And also the use of a pavilion! :)

No probs bringing supplies, is anyone bringing a Barbie? I'll bring the obligatory batch of curry & a small barbie to boil rice. Got a good local butcher for home made "hostages & burglers" etc. but will need a "proper" Barbie really. :y

Got one here... has been outside for 2 years though, not sure how rusty it is :-/
will have a look and see... If its doable, then i will buy some charcoal for it, and sling it in the trailor! :y

I'll be there, and I'll be bringing my large gas bbq, just to give you an idea of size, it takes 2 people to move it and it copes with cooking for 20+ people at Billing! I'll also have the pikey palace so there will be a hob for water for brews etc!

He he, nah theres no garages down there! However, if it rains and you want your car servicing etc, you may have to drive under a gazibo ;D ;D

One night won't hurt him. The estates have enough room to kip in with the seats down so he's got no excuse! Just hoping my exhausts are done & private plates ready to fit in time!!! 8-)

im tempted by this meet but i dont know anybody. other reason is that i need my cambelt done if someone is free to do it for me? im only coming from scarborough.
and also is anyone taking wives/kids as i have a 6 year old thats never been camping before. cant really bring the wife tho as she is 7 months pregnant and a tent will be a bit uncomfortable for her

You have to do these things to meet people, I have only been to one meet so far and only met a handfull of members and had a great day, hopefully there will be a few new faces this time too.
I really hope you decide to come!! The more the merrier I say. And I'm sure your 6 year old will be welcome, I think there could be other kids coming too. :y

Cambelt wise, I dont know who can change them! Mark is doing mine for me, so maybe an idea to speak to him as it could be just him thats changing them. ::)
I can do most other bits and bobs though! All depends on time I guess!

V6 Cambelts are a big job so before we book too many, exactly who can do them? 'coz i can't. I pay to have mine done. Thought this was more of a get together meet. Don't want to see more jobs booked than can be honoured, hence disappointed people. Sorry to put a downer on things but work wanted seems to be stacking up a tad. :-/

Sort of what I thought! Maybe the odd thing, but as said, alot of peeps might be disappointed!
Turn up, drink, talk 'dangle berries', drink more, talk more 'dangle berries' (usually louder as it gets darker), charred bits of aminal flesh on a BBQ, more Jack, more 'dangle berries', grab a few zzzzzzzzzz - that sorta thing.
A bottle of Vino Collapso for the ladies and Sunny D for the kids! :D

Know Ian already sorted it with Mark for his Cambelt doing was hoping to sort of get mine done by copying Marks (methods) with some help & advice if i get stuck, as supposedly we will have plenty of cover (big tent)but no probs still coming to York and will have all my parts for jobs with me if they dont get done then they dont get done the main prob for me is use of a Locking kit , watched the DVD enough times now & not a total noob just out of touch {i'm in AA} can always get me home LOL ! :y :y

Looks like M Mark is the only cambelt changer. Saw him today & he might not be able to sleep over owing to his work shifts, hence he'll do what he's agreed & have to go off to work after which is a bit rough really. Hoping he can swap a shift so he stay over for a drink & a laugh. Fingers crossed.
P.S is there running water on site? ie a tap we can fix a hose to?

Like I mentioned earlier, it mainly depends on available time... Plus I dont expect Mark to be repairing Omegas all day, he will want to join in with us lot im guess doing what ever we plan on doing! (Prob eating and drinking!!!) :D
I used to be a part time mechanic while I was at school, so I dont mind helping where I can! The plan with my belt was for me to remove all the covers etc, and have it ready so mark just has to change the belt (Cant bring myself to do belts yet! ;D), then I can put it back together again! (Should the free up some time for mark too!)

I've got a cam belt locking kit, & can bring it with me if required. I've only done one before ..... mine & I took the week-end to do it too. None of this couple of hours that MarksDTM & co take.

Yea bring it Andy I'm planning on doing mine will hopefully do all the spade work getting all the stuff off; ready for using the " Famous locking kits" and at least i will have all weekend to play with it if weathers good or bad ::)
Would do it at home if I could borrow a kit nearly was gonna buy one till I realised how much they cost will pay for use of it .. :y

Shifnall (Cheers Dougie) was an eye opener. I saw cambelts changed in oil/filter change time but the best few were doing it & doing it well. VX workshops could learn a thing or two. MDTM & JamesV6CDX (sorry if i forgot any others) were doing the "next please" thing, it was that quick a turnaround. Don't want to p*ss on the parade but let's keep our sights a little lower on this meet as i've seen what's involved.
On a lighter note, really looking forward to it & there'll be a big curry, many laughs & piccies. :y

Ive changed a head gasket on a car before (was a crappy fiat punto) and I still got my boss (at the time) to fit the cambelt! :-[
The only bit I will (I hope) need a hand with, will be changing the Belt... The rest (Gaskets / Service etc) I will sort out myself!

Right, Ive managed to get hold of the bloke at last :)
- I have asked about Friday, and thats fine, so I will prob be down there Fri-Sun now :y
- I have also asked about hose pipes... Yes there is some outside taps, but there round the other side of the pavilion (so if a anyone has a LONG hose they can bring) BUT it depends on how wet the grass / ground is - If its soaked, then we cant really use it, otherwise its not a problem. :y
- I have booked the pavilion... Its got a full kitchen, toilets etc... and a club area with a dance floor :D :D :D :D :y
- We have a large area of land available for us to use, so will be fine space wise :y
- I have shelter sorted for repairing cars :y
- There is also a fridge in the kitchen - so we can keep beer in there :y
- Theres a kids park area on site :y
- Theres also a proper style barbie we can use (200L oil drum cut in half job!) :y
SOOOO... BRING ON THE 26th, 27th and 28th ;D

Could be a dodgy conection, but morelikely to be the motor is fubar'd. We bought A N Other lock mechanism & motor for my lad's Astra F (similar set-up to Omega) I took the door card off, & the loom was just dangling in the breeze! :-? So you can't always tell.

I am sure tempted to blast up the motorway and join you on sunday morning for a few hours then blasting back down again for work on monday. I cant make saturday as the boys are at home to wet spam and need me to shout em on. I can say that anyone who has not tasted one of guys curries is in for a treat...... If i dont make it enjoy your time up there in a very nice piece of this plesant land, and i will hope to be at the next one.

I'll be there about 6 - 6.30 on Friday, unless I can sneak off earlier!

I'm in process of doing mine and only one side like yourself £28.35+vat for a set of gaskets (one side) 14p+vat for 8 o-rings and £3.64+vat for black sealant without trade card :y :y

Got friday off work to pick up/fit the leather door cards, give the Beastie a thorough seeing to (coz she's proper mucky) cook the curry & generally get everything packed ready. See you all Saturday lunchtime. Don't use satnav but i'll find Rufforth B1224 just east of the York ring road no worries.
You'll probably hear me once i'm on the A19 nth of Selby anyway!!!

More importantly a MASSIVE thankyou to Ian for finding a cracking venue. Very fairly priced, plenty of room, use of pavillion with wash facilities, full kitchen for cold storage,& no megolomaniac site owners!
Another MASSIVE thankyou to Ian for the Gazebo, music etc., lot's of thought & effort went into this & it was all more than worthwhile. Always good to meet faces old & new.

I spoke to the bloke after you had all gone, and he said that were all welcome back there when ever. He did say that the best time to go (for both us and his sake) is between July - September as its the quietest time, which surprised me - he said people stay at the coast in the middle of summer and not on his site! And that’s why when I went down around the end of August, nobody was there!
I also managed to get the site a bit cheaper than he said originally, since we only used the sink + fridge in the function room :P. So a couple paid a bit more than needed. SO, if were doing this again I can either:
A) Give you some money back
B) put it in the pot for the next meet
If you have paid extra, I will PM you this eve! ;)

As regards when for next year, the later the better as
A:- It's not so sweaty hot in September.
B:- Later allows more time after Newent.
Thus spreading the York meet from the two established ones giving this meet a chance to grow.
