Omega General Help / Swopping an engine?
« on: 04 September 2013, 08:53:15 »
Is it possible? I have a 2001 Elite 3.2, auto, petrol.

Is it possible to put a different engine in? Diesel perhaps? Or even a smaller one, like a 2.5 or a 2.2 or something? And what sort of cost is involved? I really like the car but I'm contemplating if it's worthwhile trying to do something like this or just sell the car, as the fuel consumption is killing me, I do mostly school runs every day so the car is just not suitable. If I can get a smaller motor put in for a reasonable cost then I would keep the car.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / How to fit a new MAF sensor?
« on: 07 June 2013, 12:02:19 »
HI everyone, ok, got my new MAF sensor, instructions say I need to disconnect the battery, press brake pedal for 1 minute, then wait 15 minutes for all power to discharge, is that really necessary or can I just unplug the old one and put the new one in?

Thanks.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Brake sensor confusion
« on: 06 June 2013, 11:55:24 »
Hi everyone

My 2001 Omega 3.2 Auto was showing Brake Pad warning on the screen, so I took all 4 wheels off and all brake pads were fine, still got many many miles of wear left in them. There was only one sensor on the left front wheel which had been cut, so I unplugged it and took it out, but now I thought doing this was supposed to stop the warnings from coming up, but every time I start the car I still get a Brake Pad warning and have to press ok to get rid of it. Is there something else that could be wrong? I have ordered a new sensor and will fit it this weekend.

Thanks

Omega General Help / Wheel alignment cost?
« on: 29 April 2013, 14:06:39 »
Hi everyone

The car tends to drift to the left when I let go of the steering wheel so I want to take it for wheel alignment, I've never had it done before (on any car) so was just curious as to what the average price is for wheel alignment, don't want to get ripped off. Thanks. :)

Amazing, I was googling about different fuels and came across this thread on OOF - http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=103051 THAT's MY CAR - LOL, that's the car I bought about 2 months ago, so awesome to see that, at least now I know the cambelt and water pump were replaced about 12k miles ago, I'm so happy now, lol.  :) :) :) :) Sorry, I just had to tell you all that.  :D

Omega General Help / Better fuel consumption on 3.2?
« on: 28 March 2013, 19:06:27 »
Hi guys, silly question :P But is there anything I can do to eke out an extra mpg or two on my 2001 3.2 v6? Apart from the obvious regular servicing and leaving it parked in the garage, lol. Are there any changes I can make? I'm a novice with the Omega's so any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Seriously, to the guy that invented these...you deserve to be dragged to the city hall steps and publicly whipped for 7 days. Honestly, who in their right mind thought these were a decent replacement for stock standard jubilee clamps. My bruised and bleeding fingers thank you very much Sir, my swear box is now full. :P

Car Parts, bits For Sale & Wanted / WTD - part from V6
« on: 23 March 2013, 10:53:31 »
Hi all, I am looking for a part from the cooling system off a 2001 3.2 v6 Elite.

I don't want the whole pump, just the black part that screws on to the front that holds the two water pipes, so if anyone has a knackered pump that can remove the front black plastic part I would really appreciate it. Can pay via Paypal or other means, thanks. This is a pic of the pump, from the cooling system that sits under the water tank and pumps hot water through the heater matrix:

Omega General Help / How do I Reverse flush radiator?
« on: 26 February 2013, 12:10:01 »
Hi guys

How would I reverse flush the radiator on my 3.2 v6? Should I put the hosepipe on the drain plug? And then which pipe should I take off, the small one at the top left that goes to the water bottle?

Thanks.

Omega General Help / A few v6 heating questions
« on: 25 February 2013, 18:39:12 »
Hi everyone. Please help. I'm busy trying to problem solve my issue with low heat in the cabin.

So far I have:
Reset the Climate Control
Replaced HBV
Flushed Heater Matrix
Flushed Radiator with Wynns rad flush

Still only getting luke warm air in the cabin. Radiator and pipes all seem to be warming up as they should, i.e. top rad pipe hot, bottom pipe cold for a while and then slowly warms up which would indicate the thermostat is working ok, I think?

But looking inside the coolant box, the water doesn't seem to move very fast, it's like a gentle movement, I would have thought that once the thermostat opens up then the water movement would be quite noticeable???

When I first flushed the radiator only clean water with pink coolant came out, no muck whatsoever.

I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem could be?

So two questions for now :p

1. Could the water pump be so knackered so as not to pump sufficiently? I thought they either worked or not?

2. How hard should the vacuum be for the HBV? If I remove the pipe from the HBV and put my finger over it I "think" there is suction, it could be my imagination, lol, but it feels like there might be a bit of a gentle vacuum, again to me that should be quite a solid suction on there shouldn't it be?

Thanks for the help, my feet will thank you if I can get my heat working. :p

p.s. my temp seems to hover around 80 to 85, seldom reaching 90, if it does reach 90 then it's only after a very long drive.

Omega General Help / v6 Thermostat question
« on: 18 February 2013, 11:23:01 »
Hi guys, looking to replace my thermostat this week, I've noticed there seems to be an option to buy the thermostat insert on it's own or with the housing. Why is it necessary to buy the housing as well? I've never seen this on any of the other cars I've owned over the years, thanks.

My car is a 2001 3.2 elite.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Loose wires in parking sensor loom
« on: 12 February 2013, 12:52:40 »
Hi guys

I noticed these two loose wires in the loom in the boot for the parking sensors, any idea what they are for and if they should be plugged into each other? Thanks.
