Does this also mean that you can't pm or email a seller who has got something of interest? So The buying and selling is just for all the people who've been on here for years and probably don't need anything or have anything to sell? :y

Good luck with that argument  ;D

Of course you can PM anyone on the forum, and if you have a read of the rules ::) you can post a wanted at in the Test Zone and ask an ad in to kindly move it for you :y

I think the Doc has covered it.

You just can't sell until you've been here a while. This is to stop/reduce the fly-by-nights from trying to rob people.

Also at 8 or 9 posts a day that magic 250 mark will be reached in a mere month, so hardly 'horse work' and even a simple to-and-fro argument conversation on here could easily eat up 10 or 20 posts in an evening. As above, it's just to stop people wandering in, taking people's money, then leaving the Admins who maintain this for free out of the kindness of their hearts to get messages of complaint, demanding they 'do something' etc...

Anyone's welcome, OP, join in, have some banter... there's even some nice people on here!  :y

has anyone been refused a polite request for parts wanted? Rants are a different matter, and ought to be refused.

It's a stupid rule. No offence to people who mmm ate the rule.
Some parts are now like Hens teeth, and if someone was getting rid of a spares car if parts from.a shed, and didn't want to brave the eBay  of idiots, they might just dump them instead of offering them.up.here.
But there's always the test zone.

I disagree, you have to consider that if a trade goes wrong, everyone looks at the admins for help. As the admins give up time and money to provide this facility for us to use for free, I don't object to any rules they wish to impose. If I do object, I know where the door is.

If people do have rare parts to sell and can't list on here, post them on eBay. If they are in demand, they'll probably get linked here anyway. Also if that sale goes wrong, you've got instant recourse through eBay and OOF doesn't get the bad reputation.

EDIT

I've sold Omega parts on eBay before, I just add a line at the bottom, 'OOF contact me'. It means nothing to most people, but if an OOF member wants the part, they get a discount.

I've found this site extremely useful and in the past have offered to stick some coins in the meter to keep the lights on. It was politely refused.
