Well if it is motorway driving you can get to around 34/35 mpg top end.

Around town you are lucky to see 19 mpg, and on average I see about 21 mpg.

So with a tank holding 75 litres you can work out the average range you will get.

Oh yes, and I am a fast driver using the S mode & box to the full! 8-) 8-) 8-)

In town though I do use the accelerator economically, in others words when I accelerate I try to make the most out of that burst of energy before using my brakes, and always obeying the speed limits.

On motorways and out of town roads then I use the car to the full ;) ;) ;)

According to my on board computer I get 21.5 mpg commuting to work (mainly town driving). However, when I calculate my mpg based on odometer mileage and fuel used (from last full tank to re-fill amount in litres) it works out at between 18 to 19 mpg so dont trust your on board computer to be exact  :P. On a motorway run I have achieved 30mpg (calculated). But like you say driving styles will come into it. I don't think it's worth having the power if you're not going to use it.  :y

The trip computer in my 3.0 auto saloon is currently showing 18.5 m.p.g. but I only normally do very short runs so the car never really warms up properly, as soon as the temperature gauge hits half way though I tend to drive every where with the rear end squirming and my foot buried deep in the carpet!

I drive fairly "Grandpa" like and have NEVER had less than 25 mpg on average, on a 50/50 combination of dual carriageway and around town.

I've always ensured the breathers are clean AND had EVERY gasket and ring replaced a while back.

That said and I'm sorry to any doubters out there...but as with every car I've ever owned I've used Slick 50 in her, and every car I've ever owned has always appeared to give me better fuel economy that expected. Either that or i'm more of a Grandpa than i thought ??

You're injectors need cleaning then.

The fuel computer uses the injector duration to work out the fuel used.  It should be very accurate and if yours isn't then the injectors are letting in more fuel than they should - which will be caught by the lambda but only after it has happened.  Also, lambda is ignored under acceleration (except if very mild).

Most likely faulty lambda sensors but could also be cats or leaking exhaust.  I'd have thought your emissions tester would be able to point you in the right direction.

Min 480, max 500 miles to a 3.0 estate tank on motorway miles, 380-400 if mostly town miles.

(don't drive like Miss Daisy.........)

The best i have ever seen in my 2.2 petrol was 37 mpg and that was driving like a fairy on a motorway run ... i got 420 miles out of that tank .
I know the 2.2 is not the most economical  :-/
I wish i could get 500 miles from a tank and yours is a 3 ltr .

You can try the stuff you add to the petrol but the only way I've found that really works is to have them cleaned ultrasonically - that way they get tested too.

Some places do an exchange scheme where they send you cleaned injectors and you pay a deposit that is refunded when you return your dirty ones.  The idea being you're not without the car while they're being cleaned.  Or buy a spare set and send them away.

What's your mileage?
