Aux belt - where's the tensioner??

2 litre petrol - broke the belt and trying to fit new one but can't find where to slacken it from??  Air con fitted

if you undo and remove 2 of the altenator bracket bolts, it will pivot enough on the 1 remaining bolt to get the belt on. the using a lever press the altenator back into position and redo the bolts.  :y

The link below may help you have an idea.  Even though it's regarding the 2.2 camshaft sensor, it does explain the tensioner in there, and the 2.0 16v is basically the same set up.

I also suggest you put the belt over the Water Pump pulley last.  This pulley does not have any raised edges and with tensioner stretched it is the easiest pulley to get belt on. 

Now now, I also used a little bit of soapy water on the water pump pulley to make the thing easier still.  I probably get slapped for saying this.  Remember for my 3.0L engine the belt backside and not with grooves goes on the water pulley.  Hence soapy stuff will not get on to the other pulleys.

Erm, i think i found the way to do it - put a 15mm spanner on the tensioner pulley and turned it clockwise to tighten it, this moves the pulley on a spring and gets it far enough out of the way to slip the belt over it, then just leave go and it's tensioned.....

seemed incredibly easy
