Just a word of advice if you do...make sure you get the proper updated H/G with metal locating dowels, as these are the major contributing for failure because many head sets still use plastic dowels that go brittle with the expansion and cause the head to dislodge in effect.

Cars for Sale & wanted / WANTED: Omega Estate
« on: 20 January 2016, 19:28:53 »
I'm in need of an Omega estate;
Age, colour and mileage are immiterial. any engine size, fuel and gearbox combination considered (would prefer an auto)
MOT a must; the longer the better. I can live with serviceable consumable items needing attention (brakes, tyres, exhaust and the odd job, but not major issues i.e head gasket failure, clutch etc.
In no way don't expect a minter for this money, but I don't want something that resembles a rat-rod either!
I'm looking to pay ~£500
I'm in Suffolk, so something within reasonable distance to be considered.

Other large estate car would be considered

Thanks

Thanks.
Admirably it's been 5 yrs since I owned an Omega, hence not been on here in a while.
I'm in need of a cheap large estate for work and dogs...I just can't find any really that are either realistically priced  (given the age and engine choices compared to what most want today) or that are estates. I'm thinking the scrapings scheme has a lot to answer for!
I digress...how can I contact the moderator that I may ask?

Is there a criteria, as I don't seem to be able to post/find the new post button?

Omega General Help / Spax lowering springs
« on: 20 August 2011, 19:38:46 »
I'd like peoples opinions please. I'm getting tired of sliding out my seat when going round roundabouts. I've seen spaz offer a set lowering car by 40mm. Would these be too stiff an spoil
The ride completely of the elite? If so would MV6 springs be a better opti

I got an irmscher style grille last week off eBay. Thefts going for £35. The quality isn't as good as irmscher but still, best copy ive seen. Better than paying 100+!

I'm not keen on a dyno run due tHe stress exerted on the car. So is the genral consensus, it's not worth it? Superchips corporate web site say £293 so this place mist be having some sort of drive to get business maybe? They're a proper authorises s.chip deqler and said what they do is get info from my ecu send to superchips then get my car back in and install the new map. For £168 I couldn't get a full performance exhaust for that and even then it wouldn't release 12 brake.

Omega General Help / Superchip on 3.0
« on: 05 August 2011, 06:38:38 »
A local vendor to me will superchip my car for £168 giving a claimed 12-15 bhp power gain. I'd like to know of anyone has had experience of Superchips in the past and if I'd notice that sort of power gain?
I know it is a generic map as opposes to an individual/bespoke re-map
But for £168 it seems reasonable in the grand scale
of things....?

The motors iv'e looked into all have autos which lead me to believe that manuals are resonably rare on V6's.
By the way 16 mpg on my Cherokee equates to about 32 in LPG money.......

What's the earliest Elite facelift I can get? It gets me soooo mad that a car made a couple of weeks either side of the tax threshhold can be so differnt in tax.....what a rip!!!!!!!

Yeah I thought of an lpg conversion as it really does make a difference.  But then saying that My cherokee only does about 16 to the gallon.  I'd love to know what an lpg conversion feels like on a V6 omega......just to see.  It's fine in a 4.0 straight six but I wonder if the vx motor is a bit too 'fragile' to be used like that.........oh god decisions decisions!!!!!! :-/ :-/
