What are the latest thinking on using the 10 level petrol against the 5 I have been using the 5 but there is a big price difference.

Use E10 and find Summat else to worry about :y
Just don't leave the car sitting for months on end with a tankful of it.

I have started using Tesco Momentum 99 in my Omega - whilst it is said the Omega is ok on E10, for the relatively small extra cost, I will continue with E5. Ethanol is horrible stuff, especially for older cars, and having seen some of the effects of ethanol in classic cars, no thanks. I am sticking with using fuel with the least amount of Ethanol (E5 Super Unleaded) in my Omegas for as long as it remains available.
Whilst the 3.2 is no slouch, using 99 RON certainly is noticable over the old 95 RON E5 that I used prior to 1st September, both in performance and also economy (although being more responsive sometimes negates better fuel consumption as your right foot gets tempted a bit more.. :y)

I found that to be true even on a 1.4 Pug 106... The extra cost was offset by the improvement in economy and a bit more pep :y
Haven't tried it with the Barge, but it seems happy enough on 95 E10.
If I buy something more exotic then that would be run on 98/99...

That's interesting - the general consensus is that the new E10 95 unleaded doesn't deliver the same economy as the 'old' standard E5 95 unleaded.

Cooler air in Autumn as E10 was introduced
and that also means fuel is denser :-\ when it's pumped/paid for if cooler liquid state
not sure how much difference it would make to the MPGs
I use the super unleaded E5 ,usually Sainsburys
still only get 22-23 MPG :-[ God knows what MPG I'd get on E10 :D
MOT in a month, so I'm not experimenting with E10 shyte :-X

Always keep a check on fuel consumption on all our vehicles, the Subaru has always been 22mpg local runs & 33mpg on a long run, filled it on Saturday morning & it returned 26mpg.

Indeed. The energy density of E10 petrol is lower than E5, so, if you get better economy, then the engine wasn't running well on E5 at all!

Can't say that I have noticed any difference in economy :-\ Still averaging 24ish.
The cold air peps it up a bit, but that's basic physics 8)

My Average MPG went from hovering around 25.7/25.6 as soon as I put E10 in it started it's miserable decline down to 25.2. Sure it'll be worse after tonights thrashing!
