General Car Chat / Re: Car spraying
« on: 11 May 2019, 18:46:38 »
Usually base coat does not need to be sanded unless faults are showing, I would be inclined to clear coat over base soon as it’s flashed, 2 pack clear is far more hard wearing than cellulose and much easier to work with. Leaving car for any length of time before lacquer will just result in higher possibility of surface attracting airborne crap, but yes I would thin clear coat

General Car Chat / Re: ULEZ
« on: 10 April 2019, 22:04:22 »
So one of my neighbours boys is an electrician & has given me a breakdown of how much it is going to cost him to work in Westminster for a week

Congestion charge.                      £11.50 per day
Ulez                                           £12.50 per day
Parking diesel van in area            £55.30 per day as diesel vans pay more per hour for 7 hours

Total he spends out before earning £396.50 per week

Good to see Sadiq Kant is doing a grand job, Crossrail, Woolwich ferry & as long as he throws money various different initiatives to tackle knife crime all is well  :(
You're not telling me he's actually going to turn up for work without passing those charges on?

He will pass the charges on to his client who is a major bank so no probs, but that’s not the point. Instead of beating the motorist to death financially because London streets can’t cope with traffic flow the congestion charge was introduced in the hope it will cut down on congestion, didn’t work, then they introduce cycle lanes cutting road capacity for those who travel in the hope more people will cycle to work, result, more cyclists were killed by lorries at junctions as the drivers could not see them, then they realise that dedicating one lane of a two lane highway to cyclists increases pollution as motorists cannot drift in to cycle lanes for fear of being prosecuted by London’s many cash raising cameras so they sit in even longer traffic jams creating breathing problems for the few that can afford to live & work there, so hello Ulez zone, just wondering what charge they will dream up next for us drivers  :(

So you can still drive in to London & poison us all, you just pay £12.50 per day for the privilege.
Mine 08 focus St exempt
Hers 97 elite not exempt even though her emissions are lower.

Still on the plus side my brother is charging a fortune to service company air con systems as no one else will venture in to the crapital. I think it’s a revenue raiser to help the worse than useless mayor pay off TFL’s 1 billion pound debt

General Car Chat / Parts availability
« on: 20 October 2018, 19:43:49 »
Just had the Omega given an advisory on steering idler & after a chat with the garage owner he tells me Vauxhall are no longer stocking parts for older cars as storing them in warehouses is no longer viable. Not a problem as I rebuilt it but wondered what other parts are no longer available as some pattern parts are absolute crap

What Tunnie says is pretty much true. The younger generation do not contribute anything to the local community, they work all hours during the week & bugger off to their weekend retreat or go on city breaks & as they only use their 5, 6, or £700k 2 bed flat for sleeping probably have never met their neighbours. i am sure some are racist but the vast majority have been living with others from ethnic backgrounds for many years & have just got used to it. Canning Town in east London used to be an area you did not park your car there as the locals would nick your wheels within 5 mins of you locking it, now developers are building high rise blocks for the Canary Wharf sect as it is within walking distance and the toe rags who used to nick your wheels are still there but there are no wheels to nick as the local councils charge stupid money for a residents parking permits & transport links are so good who needs a car. It used to make me smile when you asked a very hard working Asian man living in Newham, what is your ultimate ambition & they said to move to Redbridge (next borough out east). Then you have the older generation who bought their council house years ago & now realise its worth a fortune & its value can get you a lot more if you move out of your neighbourhood where very few people speak a language you recognise to the other side of the M25

Omega General Help / Re: V6 missfire
« on: 23 March 2018, 17:22:57 »
Anyone have experience of Cambriare plug leads? Been offered a set for the V6 for just under £40, seems a bit cheap & never heard of the make, leads on the 246 bank look a bit too long but others seem ok
