I think Max will get away with it. Not because he's getting 'special' treatment, but because he was 0.45 seconds slower than Lewis for the whole lap, whereas I think he was only around 0.25 seconds down at the end of sector 2. I didn't see his sector 3 time, but assuming it's slower than Hamiltons (which it must be), and no quicker than his previous sector 3 time, I think that's all that's required.

I don't like the yellow flag rules - and especially the double waved yellows which indicates marshals on track. Double yellows should have a mandatory 50MPH/80KPH speed limit in that sector - not just lift off and wave to the marshals to pretend you've slowed down.

Lewis will be fine because he was ahead of Gasly on the track, so never had a yellow flag to respect.

That said, if it does turn out that Max's sector 3 time was quicker than his previous Q3 effort, then his time must be deleted, and probably a 5 place grid penalty. If he isn't punished for a double yellow infringement then I might start to believe some of the conspiracy theories.

Masi,s notes to the drivers for this weekend stated that drivers must abandon flying laps altogether if double yellows are being waved.
Verstappen clearly did not do that, so its hard to see how he can be let off - again.
The offence is very similar to Hamilton at ustria 2020.
His defence was that he didnt see the flags, and the Stewards were minded to just give him a warning.
After an appeal by Red Bull (gives you whinge) he was given a three place grid penalty.

He looks to me like a man who is desperate and under huge pressure. To blame Vestappens penalty on a rogue "rogue marshall" for waving double yellows because a car stopped opposite his marshalls post was beyond ridiculous.
I wonder if his job is under threat behind the scenes if they dont beat Mercedes this year ?
