hi, my signum has after market reverse sensors fitted so no button is in place to silence them, just wondering if when i have a towbar in place if they will interfere - just cars in general, omega signum etc etc

I have cheap aftermarket sensors on my estate, and a fixed towbar. The sensors are quite high on the bumper, and there are mo problems.
If I'm honest, I didn't even consider there might be a problem when I bought the sensors ;D

Factory ones have a switch for disabling the PDC.
Might be able to fit a switch into the towbar wiring so that it silences the beeper when reverse is selected or when a trailer socket is plugged in... this depends on type of socket fitted but believe all have a rear fog light cut out switch... be easy enough to solve if it proves to be an issue ;)

It's a pin on the inside face of the socket casing... 2a iirc :-\ either makes or breaks pin 2 connection... don't have one in front of me, so can't be 100% re pin, but definitely there :y

Correct. My 13 pin OE socket had one ..... that's why there are 2 fog light wire & a loop on the plug/socket in the boot :y

Correct. My 13 pin OE socket had one ..... that's why there are 2 fog light wire & a loop on the plug/socket in the boot :y
Which also explains why the factory wiring diagrams include both sides of said socket... pay for towbar prep when the car is built, and they include the plug to enable the dealer/towbar goon to wire it in without using scotchblocks 8)

I think that CANbus on newer cars has pretty much put a stop to those kind of installations

That said, I don't relish the prospect of doing the wiring when I finally get a W140 :-X Sorting the ICE and fitting a towbar will be the first two jobs...

why does everyone quote their Merc model like that? I drive an R Class .... never call it a W251 :-\
Radios/COMAND seem to be as complicated as Merc could have made them ..... 'Audio 20' cover eleventeen flavours ??? I asked on a Merc forum how much to fit COMAND to my R Class a few years back ..... £1000 and that was for a second hand unit. I use a TomTom ;)
