Anyone else going here? The entry is limited to 1000 pre-purchased tickets only, and you have to turn up in a Vauxhall.
I know some of the ABS members are going.
The more Omegas go, the less room there will be for Arden blue Corsas and Astras ;). Sign up here:

Pity, we are away on our first post lockdown staycation. :(

I've bought my ticket.

Under normal circumstances, that would be a big yes...but we've been shielding from day one and have only broken cover a few times for odds and sods. Not sure wether this one will actually go ahead, and on a personal basis I would need to think about the risk if it did.....sorry to be a pussy :-\

:yI respect that. Each to their own, risk is a very personal thing. It was interesting seeing all the face masks blowing around in the aftermath of the Beirut accident :-\

I took the VXR8 to the Beaulieu Rod and Custom show last year, and was it rammed? even though it rained heavily, and that has sort of made me a bit twitchy as I had people coming from all sides to look at the car,and although the Omega is a different beast,I would guess that there's going to be a pent up need for people to get a fix of cars before the winter months,so the distancing part probably won't be adhered to.
-
Could do with something like this to give me push to fix the Omega, but that's too far to do a round trip in the day-and I have to be back for the dog.
-
Plenty of dog friendly B+Bs around the New Forest. :-X
-
Will have to get it fixed/Mot'd/proven locally for reliability and then it'll be down to Covid rates/rules at the time then.
-
Remember that it's pre-booked tickets only and you have to turn up in a Vauxhall. (Or a Mazda rotary engined sportscar....!)
"All Vauxhall owners are invited to drive into Beaulieu and park up within the museum parkland for what promises to be a superb day out for both Vauxhall owners and enthusiasts.
Whether you drive a Corsa, RX8 or something a little older such as a Model A, all models are welcome at Simply Vauxhall, which is set to provide a great opportunity to admire other’s vehicles. Bedford’s are also welcome.
To ensure the safety and enjoyment of visitors is met, tickets must be pre-booked and capacity will be strictly limited to 1000 participants (participant tickets are per person - adult and child) . These tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis. No tickets will be sold on the day."

My SAAB, is a GM, or doesn't that count,

I doubt the organizers would care once you transferred the money ;D
and being that very rare GM star silver ,i doubt you'd stand out much parked among the vauxhall focus's and golfs :P

Well it is a Vectra in a posh frock. :D

Maybe they mean the A-Type...but that was made around the 1910s...there was a 'Light SIx' A Type in the 30s...but I imagine they're don't mean that, last time I checked a Model A was a Ford! My this is a well-researched affair. :D Reminds me of when they first made the 'VauxFest' logo and a fair few thousand people pointed out the car silhouette in the logo was a Capri!!
-
Having now pondered this the costs for basically a day out simply aren't justifiable sadly. The entry cost-considering what it includes-is I think very reasonable, but fuel costs for a 490ml round trip + entry fee + food/coffees + somewhere for me and dog to stay overnight mount up to a prohibitive amount and that's without buying anything else.
-
Hi Baz, aren’t there any members nearby that you could double up with?
-
It could be the last car meet this year. I'm bringing both MV6s, one person in each. Fuel cost will be horrific but YOLO!

You're assuming it's not canned :-X

Not yet. Autobahnstormers are meeting at Rownhams Services on M27 West/Southbound at 9.00am.
If anyone who is going has got a Tech 2 they can bring, I have got an airbag light that I would like switched off. Thanks.

We keep managing to avoid each other, despite being only 20-30 mins apart. One day ;D

I would love to have gone to this, but Im just not prepared to take the risk in the current situation.
Had swmbo in shielding for months and went to great lengths to stay safe while still working as normal. Dont want to jeopardise it now. :(

No shame in that. Although obviously we will take the phish.
-
I would be disappointed if you didnt. ;D
-
I don't blame you not going to this mass gathering
people seem to have forgotten about social distancing etc
new confirmed cases of covid are increasing rapidly :(
I was taking my mum for a few practice driving "lessons" as she hasn't been out or driven her car since march
now i'm thinking what's the point, she will have to shield again soon ::)
I do like to walk around a car meet and look at the cars etc ,I've done "Billing" many times :) but not this year
-
Been said so many times this virus doesn't move itself, it's moved by folk stay home & stay safe simple.

Soon, I am sure. No rush.
-
Cases are now doubling every week ! If not halted, thats a scary statistic.

I'm not sure that dragging a caravan over to the west country from the Fens counts as staying at home, but what do I know :-X

.
People have been allowed some freedom & if sensible it could have lasted but we've all seen the reports of pubs & restaurants packed with no social distancing being followed , we have isolated for six months but managed 9 days away walking the coastal footpaths in Cornwall which brought some relief but never visited restaurants or pubs totally self sufficient so whatever occurs now will just have to bear with it.

Vast majority did distance sensibaly. Good turn out of a large variation of Vx and a couple of Opels
ABS had 12 cars in total there although two did not read the club forum so were parked further away and one other turned up at mid dayish. The museum was open but with strict entry numbers in force
Very good day with some very nice weather. Best bit for me was being able to drive my car for 6 hours in the day

Ditto Keith's last comment, I wouldn't have minded if we'd been turned away at the gate, the drive down was worth it. The show and chat with like minded owners was a bonus.

Looks like there was a pretty broad spectrum of cars there :y
-
I did go as well. but it took longer than it should have done due to the M4 closure between junctions 14/15 and the detour which wasted nearly 2 hours and with being tired too resulted in me leaving early as well. but there were some nice cars there.
Cheers
Neil.

Yes, and because they were parked with a sensible distance between each car, and without any real demarcation between types, there was less of the tribe mentality that you get with some events, which made wandering around and chatting to owners very pleasant.

I managed to get someone to plug his Tech 2 into Y11VXL on Saturday at the Beaulieu show and turn off my airbag light, so although I may need your expertise in future and thanks for the offer, there is no longer an immediate need.
