Cheers guys.

Only have one more of the bay. still needs a few things doing to tidy it up, like new header tank etc. I also have a strutbrace to put on from germany, just need to cut and re-weld it slightly differently to clear the brake servo tank. Will get round to it soon..

These pics are from last year, only thing ive done is moved the EGR valve under the battery tray to hide it, in the pic its bolted on a bracket looking messy

One word...  MMMMMMMMMMMM

Now toffee me for being dumb.. But EGR and secondary air removed..   Err  please explain. Sounds like a mod I can do on mine
Title: Re: My omega update pictures
Post by: X3 OXE on 24 January 2012, 22:37:39
You can buy a blanking plate for the EGR valve so it stays in the same place but is blanked. Which is how i use to have mine, but now ive made my own blanking plate on the plenum and moved the EGR under the battery out the way, it needs to remain plugged in so the ECU thinks its still working.

I used to have the secondary air injection removed and the manifold pipes blanked, but when i fitted the 3.2 exhaust manifolds it allowed me to remove the SAI altogether

Just tried to keep my intake temps as low as possible as the omega runs far to hot, the throttle bodie heater pipe removal is another good one. it warms the throttle bodie, which obviously raises the intake temps. so i blanked the waterbridge outlet and fitted a 2.5TD header tank without the throttle bodie heater pipe attachment

Removing the aircon is the best one by far though. the aircon rad and fans just block the coolent rad, when its all removed it gets airflow straight to the coolent rad. my temp gauge sits nice and low

And my second air feed is a 3" pipe cut into the bottom of the airbox, and ducting running to the front grill next to the original intake. So it gets all the air it needs and as cold as possible going into the engine.

I just want to redo the exhaust side of it next as im still running both CATS. and although the 3.2 manifolds are alot more free flowing, they are still very restrictive. So next im going to order the custom friedrich tubular manifolds and then go full custom exhaust from there back so it gets rid of the CATS as well

Should breathe perfectly then

Hope this helps a bit, Any questions just ask  :y

Yep,had that car sitting on my driveway for about 20mins and then Jay took it away  :'( :'( :'(

;D Will have to bring it round again so you can see the new look in the flesh. pictures never do it justice. Or got a little meet Sunday if your up for it mate  :)

Can i just ask what blanking off the egr valve does?
Title: Re: My omega update pictures
Post by: X3 OXE on 29 February 2012, 13:56:15
Puts the exhaust gases into the inlet basically, so hotter intake temps and coats everything up over time. So blanking it will lower the intake temps and keep plenum an everything clean

Thanks again. Currently in bits fitting new alternator, thermostat, vectra alloy cam covers with new gaskets and spark plugs

And hopefully sourced some uprated engine mounts now as I keep breaking my passenger side, standard ones just seem to weak

Then she's ready for PVS!

That's a brilliant result! Nice one.

Do you mind if I ask where you got your discs and pads from? Mine are going to need doing soon, pads especially. Probably going to go for EBC Yellow Stuff but am not sure about discs, can't find any drilled ones straight for the Omega.
