well went ahead and done the test.

                 Dry
piston.
         No.1 180 psi
         N0.2 185 psi
         no.3 180 psi
         no.4 180 psi

                wet 3 drops oil

         no.1 185 psi
         no.2 185 psi
         no.3 190 psi
         no.4 180 psi
so i'm now thinking it might be leaking on the valves a bit would this be the case or does it look about right ?
as oil will seal the piston rings, so inlet and exhaust might be leaking a bit ????
would that sound about right ???

just had message back from vauxhall/ well opel germany and they say minuum is 110 psi and max 30% highest and lowest  engine cold. other test is running engine for 10 minutes, then test again 115 to 120 psi  lowest. still max plus 30%. or cold test with 3 drops of oil in each cylinder. no more than 3 drops. so going to see what it says if it's not raining. missed a bit out max 10% drop between cylinder any more than 10% then there is a problem.

i have a brand new gauge, needs testing to calibrate. says test the calibration with known pressure, so thought engine compression test, if its out too much need to send it back for replacement, old one had lasted 30 year but its way out.  suppose could test it on tyre pressure, just need to know if the pressure is right ? best of 3 gauges ? have 3 digitals. might work..

« on: 20 January 2018, 07:56:52 »
yeah its the felt rubber has a few splits in it and the corner on drivers side has about a 1cm gap when wet thats lifted up and seal still in original place, when its warm it shrinks down to a 5 mil gap just on this corner bit glass and metal look fine, is it just glued in place the felt bit. ? as said tried to get a glass but they won't split, £90 for the hole unit. when only need the glass or the seal.

think have found out why the dash wont move, the window seal is holding it in place, so cannot pull the dash away and lift up. had mrs put her arm in as its thinner than mine and she can feel something rubbery around the edge, so think will have to find another way round it to get to the flap, but there is not much room to work with.  :'(  ??? any ideas?,

I've done the parts from that book but still holding on somewhere. The info to remove and replace the door is though top vent and blower vent and prise the clips apart and the top comes off to gain access. It's holding on fast. But cannot see or feel where ? There are metal retaining strips have them removed but must be missing somthing or they used some sort of glue ? Still cannot get the dash to move.

hi, is there a diagram or info on removing the dash, the vent control has broken off and need to get into it fix it as its bypassing heater and freezing air coming out, thought it was the cable but its intake and still connected at heater end, so put camera down and can see the door has snapped off inside. would not mind if it was passide but its not, cannot find any info of what to take off or location of all the fixtures, can see some bolts behind the dash and glove box,  do i need to take the steering wheel off, i've managed to source a new door mechanism off a old unit but its now just trying to get the thing out to replace it, and at same time think will change some other bits like the core while its out. book is no help at all.

in side the light control there are 2 relays these control the fogs and spots depending on switch fitted, but they all have the same switches in them its just the buttons that are different, like these.  https://www.ebay.com/itm/5PCS-12V-SPDT-Relay-Coil-400-ohm-250VAC-30VDC-10A-/400244726383.
