have now got an ecu problem on my second mig now, 99.9% sure the ecu is naff if it is i know i need the ecu, transponder, and key as a set but do i need to make sure the donar vehicle is the same spec eg: cd cdx elite etc. or are they all the same as long as the engine size year engines code etc are the same.i have seen one on fleabay same engine etc but diffo chassis number range.i cant afford to scrap the thing and i cant afford to replace the car either.any ideas.thanks

Depends on year as to how much needs to match, earlier ones didnt need to be quite as specific...

What year, engine size etc is yours?

(i think) on early cars like my 95 2.0 you had to change:
the engine ecu
central locking ecu
immobiliser ecu
transponder in key
transponder receiver round the ignition barrel

its a p reg 2.5 v6 cdx.god if i have to change all that it will be the scrapper for her im afraid

For a 97 Omega you will only need to change the ECU, pickup round the ignition barrel and key chip...all very easy to do yourself...

Best to find one from same year engine size gearbox type and wheel size...saves any reprogramming but most important would probably be engine size and gearbox type

Is yours auto or manual?
