Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Maps on CID
« on: 01 October 2012, 18:21:45 »
Does the colour display use a different disc to GID when using the Sat Nav? When I select map view it just comes up blank. Everything else seems to work ok.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Security code
« on: 19 September 2012, 17:34:58 »
I've just replaced the stereo in the Mig. I replaced the display and head unit as one so I didn't have to mess around with coding the two together. What gets me is. What's the point of having the security pass card? The stereo I fitted had been sat around out of the car for around two months. Yet it never asked me for the code when it fired up for the first time. So what is the security code on the Car Pass for? Apart from confusing simpletons like me  :P

Omega General Help / Flat battery and dead locks.
« on: 19 August 2012, 20:18:15 »
Now I know the key works so it's not the wrong one. Battery is totally flat I haven't used the beast for sometime. Problem is like a dickhead I put the dead locks on. So now I can't open the doors to get the bonnet up to charge said flat battery. Is there some sort of trick I can do or do I need to put the window through????

General Discussion Area / Couldn't resist
« on: 15 June 2012, 23:13:07 »
Not a car but still uses petrol. I've been avoiding riding my current bike due to its weight and my gammy ankle not getting on. It's fine when moving but at a stand still or trying to paddle the bike around I've nearly dropped it a number of times. So fearing that my ankle will eventually cost me my riding I wanted a new bike which saddens me to say will probably be my last ever bike. Been riding since 86 I'm 42 this year and always thought I'd ride forever but i know it will get to much for me at some point. So I've been toying and thinking about what I should do. So been looking for something light and fun. well I had the most amazing test ride today and ended up putting a deposit on this

Well not this very one as mine is still at the factory being built!!!! Raided the accessories catalogue s well. Got quite a good deal but I did spend more than I planned but if this is to be my last ever bike I wanted it to be perfect.

Omega General Help / Some LPG questions
« on: 26 May 2012, 00:50:36 »
I know naff all about LPG but I have just purchased a second hand kit which came off a Omega 2.5. It's a Bigas sequential system. I think it's a older system but it all seems to be present and correct. I removed it myself (and Mr Knee) so Know where all the bits and bobs go but I have what are probably some dumb newbie owners. Plan is to fit it to my 3.0lt. So I'm going to assume the 2.5 jets will be to small. Do I just go to a local dealer and buy new jets? Are they universal or do I need to get ones which are specific to the Bigas system? There is no gas filter fitted. Does there have to be one? and if so can I buy a universal one (one inlet two out lets one for each bank). It was a pretty shoddy fitting job and I want to make it a pucker safe install. To this ends I want to really replace the copper pipe which runs front to rear. Can I swap it for the flexiable type and if so what bore size will I need? I'll get some piccies up of all the bits tomorrow so hopefully it becomes clearer. Where is the best place to buy the parts I'm going to need? Does anybody know of a good internet/mail order firm who are willing to help by insuring I get the right parts? I've found several local firms to me. Is it just a simple job of phoning up and getting it inspected once fitted? Or are some firms funny about doing that? One more question. I've downloaded the bigas software for reprogramming the LPG ECU to suit the 3lt. However I noticed that there's no port on the ECU. Now does that mean the brain has to be removed from the car to program? Or is there a kinda tech 2 port on the LPG wiring loom I just haven't noticed yet? If there's anybody on the site which is local to me who knows how to set this system up and has the equipment I am more than willing to cough up the beer tokens to get it set up right.

On my FL mig is the traffic master still just above the peddles and if I remove it will it in anyway effect the sat nav or stereo?

General Car Chat / Using different oil in the bus.
« on: 02 May 2012, 18:15:38 »
Hopefully the brainier member here will be able to give me a suitable laymans answer. Right our old VW bus uses straight 30 weight oil. Now I've beefed up the engine just a wee bit. So instead of making 50 horses it's now a torquey 100 horse lump. I feel using 50 year old oil technology is a bit pants now so I want to use something more modern. Now I know the 30 of the oil refers to the viscosity at 100 C and is measured in Centi=stokes. I've looked at the values and can't see why I can't use a 10/40 or maybe a 20/50 oil but I'm not clever enough to work out the best one to use or even if I can. So come on all you oil gurus what can I use

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Would this CID work?
« on: 26 April 2012, 18:53:25 »
If I was to buy this set up would the screen work with a 2011? I know I'd have to put the units into service mode more worried about physically fitting and wiring

General Discussion Area / Ebay. I've been con'd
« on: 26 April 2012, 13:26:07 »
Shame to say it but in over 10 years of being a member I've finally been ripped off to the tune of 108 quid. I raised the issue with Ebay last week and the seller has until tomorrow to respond. If he doesn't respond does anybody know what happens next? I paid via Paypal and I have the protection but I'm unsure if I get the full amount back. If I don't I will pursue it through the small claims courts. I've done that before and where it is a balls ache it's easily doable. I'd rather the item was just posted out to me still but I can't see that happening. Who knows there maybe a genuine reason why he's not contacted me but at the end of the day I have to look after my own interests. Sigh, shame really guy said he was a member on here as well and even phoned me to tell me when he was going to post it etc.
