Anybody got one / had one ?
Opinions ?
Fuel, performance ect ?

Seriously looking to move on from the omega in the next few months  :'(
Needs to be reasonable on fuel (for size) and capable of pulling a pikey van

What sort of age are you looking at?

When we were thinking of getting one with the D5 engine in it I remember Serek mentioned some things to look / listen out for....... I can't remember what they were now so best to ask him!  ;D

I believe that IanU on here has/had one so I'm sure he'll respond if he sees this.  :y

I have a 2012 d5 which i think has the more powerful emgine than the one you are looking at,  31-35mpg over 15 miles of very mixed roads twice a day,  massive and not fast,  very slow to get moving but once on the move plenty fast enough.

I have only had mine a couple of months but love it so far.

Cheers

I believe timing belt change interval on the D5 is 10yrs/100,000miles[I think it was lengthened to that from 8yrs/80,000,but it could have been the other way round so check that]just as important is the auxilliary belt with change interval about half the time/distance of the timing belt.If the auxilliary belt lets go it can wrap round the crank pulley and take out the timing belt with consequent damage to valves/head/pistons etc.

A few alarm bells going off with that one!

A picture of the rocker cover removed and the statement its had new cam followers fitted......why? What caused what is a very reliable item to be replaced, is it something that is masking a bigger issue (low oil pressure?, worn major parts, poor servicing etc).

Has the windscreen issue been sorted (as per the previous MOT)

Its quite a lot of cash for what looks like a tired example, there will be better ones out there  :y

Quite a number of MOT fails in the history too. Smacks of a lack of basic maintenance over a number of years.

Makes it so easy to identify a badly maintained vehicle, and thus avoid buying a heap of shite.

Thanks lads  :)

Did a bit of research this morning (MOT's ect) before work and decided to scratch this one firmly off the list.

Got offered a very honest A6 Allroad last night for 3 grand but the 600 quid road tax made me cry  :o

With the omega's MOT up in September, I always get the temptation to jump at this time of year.
The omega's rear nearside driveshaft has started clicking away on monday when driving back from a dirty weekend away in Scarborough.
Luckily i've got a 3.7 diff and 2 dry shafts on the breaker which is my job for the weekend which should hopefully keep her fit for the summer pikey van season but sooner or later she is going to have to go  :'(

'dangle berries', why is owning cars so frustrating  ::)
