Omega General Help / Misfire perhaps in bank 1 this time
« on: 26 May 2016, 18:20:44 »
Hello

Yes, misfire during idling, no misfire when driving normally. No fault codes. Long term trims equal in bank 1 and bank 2. Short term trims +/-1 or zero when idling normally. When misfiring bank 1 short term trim climbs to +5 or +7 while bank 2 short term trim stays -1 or goes to -2 perhaps -3.

I changed ignition module for bank 2 some months ago due to misfire (spark plug wells full of water). Now I hope bank 1 has the problem this time. I did all the sealing actions needed to prevent water going to bank 2 wells anymore so I really hope it is bank 1 this time (I bought both ignition modules last time as they were quite sheep). What are these short term trims telling to us?

Omega General Help / Three parts inside coolant bottle
« on: 14 April 2016, 17:36:42 »
Hello
I was cleaning my coolant bottle by filling it with hot water and shaking etc. At the end I found three loose parts in the bottom of the bottle; two washers one metallic with big hole and one plastic one with small hole and then a float as well.

How to put them back and in which order. Do I miss some parts? Difficult to understand how the float is locked.

Yesterday when engine was hot I realized that the idling became bad. It stays first constant around 600 rpm and then suddenly drops for one second below 500 rpm and shakes. Then come back to 600 rpm. It happens perhaps after each ten second period. I tried to keep rpm in around 1000 rpm with accelerator pedal and gear in neutral. Same dropping happens there.  In 2000 rpm I did not find this effect. Engine behaves normally when driving and accelerates well without any problems. Breathing system cleaned some weeks ago - should thous be OK.

I remember this case have been discussed here but could not find it. What controls the idling in this engine?

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Battery Holder for Remote
« on: 09 December 2015, 19:11:17 »
Hello

Ordered from Locksmith repair kits for my two remotes. After soldering of all six micro switches I found that one leg of one battery holder is broken. Locksmith do not sell them, only provide under repair service. Does anyone know where to buy those?

So I changed new cam covers and seals as well, new O rings were also located in those new covers, tightened bolts to 8Nm but found after one week driving that some of the 16 bolt holes are wet of oil. Should I tighten more or put that black sealant below each bolt, Strange!

Hello

I am reassembling the inlet to sandwich plate. I already tightened the 12 sandwich bolts to heads. 20 Nm is understandable when tightening bolts to aluminium heads. When I tighten inlet bolts 6 pc to sandwich plate is the torque really 20 Nm as well. I wonder it as the sandwich plate seems to be some kind of plastics and I am afraid that the brass "nuts" I see start to rotate inside this plastic. Please help.

Hello all

Local dealer here did not find any part number for CTS for ECU (Y26SE engine).
What he found was part No. 90541520 as referred below, but this is according to his catalog for X25XE and X30XE only.

Does anyone know the right number for this part for Y26SE or could I just use this 90541520?

Omega General Help / Is the Sandwich Plate in V6 symmetrical?
« on: 07 November 2015, 08:57:02 »
Just completing my thermostat and cam cover change. I am just wondering whether the sandwich plate is symmetrical or not. Seem that it fits in two positions. Is it symmetrical?

Omega General Help / Power Steering Delphi or ZF
« on: 05 November 2015, 17:56:59 »
Tried to buy a hose for power steering. This insulated hose is going from black round tank to ps pump. Local dealer asked whether the ps system is Delphi or ZF. I did not know. Went back home and found ZF marking stamped on tank cap. Nothing can be seen stamped in the pump. So is the system ZF or do all Omegas have ZF cap?

Omega General Help / Rust around spark plug V6 Y26SE
« on: 03 November 2015, 11:17:26 »
Just changing cam covers+seals. Found that in right bank first cylinder in front there is a lot of rust around the spark plug. Also the spark plug steel part is corroded. Everything is very dry, no oil no water. Other spark plugs are OK. Is there in a head a steel bushing with thread for spark plug which perhaps is slightly leaking coolant or is the thread in the aluminium alloy head itself. Strange looking. Engine is running nicely.

Just changing the thermostat to my V6 Y26SE, nice construction really, but new thermostat is now there and B-bolt is screwed back. I see two sensors in the "bridge" between heads. One of them is certainly coolant temp. sensor (which one?) but what is the other one. Should I change them now just for sure when everything is open or just leave them there? Engine is running a bit cold about 80C acc. to dashboard meter. That is why I changed thermostat.

Omega General Help / Riding Height and Camber again
« on: 14 September 2015, 19:13:26 »
Riding height front driver side is 660 and front other side 666. Front camber is -2 degrees 0 minutes and -2 degrees 06 minutes respectively. Toe OK, both sides 0.10 degrees. Front tyres wearing in inner side.

What to do? New springs or just adjust camber to what? Any experience. Ref for Camber seems to be from -1 degree 55 minutes to - 0 degree 25 minutes (each side).

Omega with V6.

I got good tips to solve my problem, yes...

In the link there are two pics of the electronic selector. In first pic you can see in green colored circuit board some steel colored contact strips. I opened my selector as my AR-25 is really a manual gear box today. Two of those steel colored strips are broken so I believe that I have to buy a new one. In Finland the price of this part is about 500 euro. Perhaps someone of you knows a better place to buy it, or should I try to repair it by soldering.
Please help, I like automatic gearbox.

Hello

Looking for assembly kit for rear brake pads, ventilated ATE (as usually with V6). Everybody offers me kit with too short pins and too narrow "cross-plates" or whatever these plate parts are called. I was asked to check the original spare part number for those parts or for the whole kit.

Does anyone of you have these original numbers available?

Omega General Help / 0.24 amps current
« on: 12 October 2014, 15:24:04 »
Hello

Just changed battery as it died after six years (Bosch). All OK, charging more than 14V. During this repair I wanted to check how much current is consumed while car is parked. I closed the doors but did not lock them, put amp. meter between battery minus and minus cable and found that there is after 15 seconds about 0.24A current. It did not change within a couple of minutes. The value seems quite high for me. Is this normal? Just think that about in 4 hours 1Ah is used, 6Ah in a day and night. After ten days 60Ah.

Any experience about this, strange!
