Buy another fridge and use that one as a freezer. No need to thank me

A quick Google suggests the thermostat is pretty cheap so it may be worth trying.

Tip it on it's side for a hour or so, sometimes works. Erm, don't forget to empty it first.

It's a Hotpoint Iced Diamond RFA 52.

I had this fridge freezer and had the same issue. Bought and fitted a new thermostat. Problem solved. 

Three years later had the same issue. Bought another thermostat, but this time didn't solve the issue and it went to the tip. 

Replaced it with a second hand Hotpoint F/F in good condition for £40.

At that age, replace it.  The seals will be tired, refrigerant not as pressured, and it just having to work harder.


But if its frost free, a defrost can help, esp if you ram it full regularly.  I was always having to defrost the last frost free one, as ice was forming near the fan, jamming it, because Mrs TB is the queen of overfilling fridges, freezers and cupboards.
