rear shocks
« on: 01 April 2013, 20:14:22 »

As pere a previous poster my rear wheeels seem to be really thumping down, but not sure if shocks are shot.  Wheels off springs look good not broken, shocks no leaks, car seems to bounce ok when static tested, so is it that the holes are really deep and it is limt of travel or is there something else I can check.

If they are shot any reccomendations for new ones 2.0L GLS

Cannot go wrong with standard GM really. Around £80 for pair last time I bought some, been excellent.

Unless you want to stiffen or lower it?

Tyres not over inflated? :-\

Do you get a double thump over bumps? Like a thump when the wheel hits the bump as normal, then a slightly louder thump as the wheel hits the floor again? If so it sounds like the damping is lost, so the the wheel takes off over the bump and thumps again as it lands...? If so shocks fubar.

Odd they should both go at once. Or is it one side only? (Replace in pairs)

Check there's nothing loose in the car first. Spare still strapped down etc.

now not doing it from iphone will try and explain it a bit better.  Hit a bimp and get sort of nosie and feeling you would expect, but if it is a large bump straight after is a very strong thump which I can only describe as having spring fully compressed and the suddenly release not under control, driver side only.

GM rear shocks £138 bilestein £87
