I'll let this 'quality news outlet'  ;D tell the story. The comments are quite good though.

I really don't know what was going through this woman's head, well nearly a concrete post.

Cars for Sale & wanted / Spares Car - 2.6 Manual Estate
« on: 20 March 2018, 13:29:25 »
I'm calling it a spares car as whilst it has a MOT, there are a few things that would make me say it's not safe to be driven such as an epic water leak and awful brakes.

2001 2.6 Estate CD with towbar in Super Rare Silver  ;D IIRC about 120k on clocks.

I had some plans to fix/swap bits over to another car, but back in the real world I have too many projects and just need this car gone now. Both bumpers have marks, I think the other removable panels are OK. Wheels are OK, with 2 borderline Avons and the 2 good Avons.

1 key and V5 in my name and address. I'm asking £150, no offers. If I can't get that (which I'd understand) then I'll split it.

General Car Chat / Jag Owners Help Please
« on: 16 March 2018, 15:05:18 »
It seems my Jag had it's wing mirror smashed. Not happy.  >:(

I think it happened when I was in St. Ives earlier this week. I hate it when people do this. Anyway, is it straight forward to fit a new one?

Omega General Help / Water Leak
« on: 08 March 2018, 10:02:12 »
Hello, the car is a 2.6 v6 estate. After some searching and reading I suspect the problem is the HBV. There is an epic level of water coming from the rear of the engine. Possibly more to the passengers side of the car.

Anything else it could be?

General Car Chat / Unbelievable
« on: 26 February 2018, 09:01:19 »
After a break from OOF, my Omega has been running fine. I started to look for his replacement at the start of the year. I would have been more than happy with another Omega. 2 months later and I was outbid on eBay, I missed one last week and one that I would have bought has turned up this week. 5 days after me buying a new (to me) car. Sigh.

On the downside, I'm going to be Omega-less.

On the upside, Saab 9-3 1.9TiD on an 07 plate at what I consider a bargain price.

Omega General Help / Omega Breaker?
« on: 13 February 2018, 08:54:22 »
Does anyone on here break Omegas?

The reason I ask is my car will not pass it's next MOT, if there is a breaker, I'd rather it went to them. If not, I'll pull some bits off and weigh it in.

General Car Chat / My Omega - what a car!
« on: 29 July 2017, 16:23:10 »
I have to say, my Omega has been and still is an absolute diamond of a car. I must admit, it's in need of some maintenance now, but due to the 3 years, 24k+ of next to faultless mileage - I am going to find the time to make it happen.

A brief history of my car....
Bought 3 years ago for £230 with no MOT. I'll admit, I bought it for the manual gearbox with the grand idea of doing a 'crazy' conversion. However, the car drove too good to scrap so it went to the MOT I had booked before I bought it  ;)
So it had it's MOT, it failed  >:( A set of front pads and a bulb later I had a fresh ticket!

Since then, it has needed a set of tyres and a battery (above routine servicing). That is it.
It has also took Mini Me for his first ever car journey.

I just wanted to acknowledge how much this car has done for me for so little money and love. I sincerely hope this car runs forever (well until 2040  ;D) but when it does give up, I hope I can find another Omega.

Thank you Oscar (my car)

Omega General Help / Random Coolant Dumping
« on: 29 July 2017, 16:04:46 »
Hello,
I have a 2.6 manual estate on a Y plate. The problem I have is that at a random time the coolant will leak and empty the expansion tank. The most noticeable time this happens is if you start the car and drive to the petrol station, Mrs Deviator keeps coming out to people telling her she has a leak. I don't drive this car that much, so have only just seen it myself. it appears to be leaking around the nearside, in the engine bay, very close to (if not) the radiator. There are now dried coolant marks in this area.

In the past I have flushed the system, re-filled it and then ran it up to temp/fan cutting in on the drive and it was fine.  :-\

I haven't fully investigated this as Mini Me has stopped me getting near any car for a while.

My question is, what is in this front nearside corner that could provide a random coolant drop?

Thanks in advance.

Cars for Sale & wanted / Saloon 2.2 CDX Auto with LPG
« on: 26 October 2016, 18:27:52 »
I was hoping to get this car back on the road and use it, but I am running out of time and space and who'd have thought a new baby would take so much time up? This is a pretty clean car and far too good to split, however if it stays much longer, it'll end being a parts car for my Omega.

2 keys + Cobra Alarm Fobs.
Just over 100k
Rust on rear arches & doors just appearing.
The rear looks like it's never been used, yet it has limo tints in the rear.
I don't know anything about the LPG, but I can ask the garage I bought it from (they are friends). Apparently there is gas in there.
The tyres need replacing and the battery is duff, I can jump it. The autobox is slipping (hence why it came to me), I was hoping a fluid change and filter on the box would have solved it. The guy that drove it back for me said it drove fine, but he was taking it steady. Just out of MOT. The boot release button on both remotes is not working.

I'm asking £150 as I'd appreciate a quick sale. I live on the outskirts of Chesterfield, a few miles from J29A of the M1.

General Car Chat / Gordans' Arrived!
« on: 31 July 2016, 19:43:58 »
Sorry for the awful Flash Gordan reference. Meet Gordan, the latest Omega to join the household (I still have Oscar, when the Wife lets me near him). Gordan was heading for the scrapyard due to a slipping slushbox before I saved him. I couldn't let him suffer that fate. Yes, he needs some TLC, but overall a clean 2.2 CD with LPG. I'm not sure if he will be staying or going, but he won't be going to be stripped whilst I'm the owner.

General Car Chat / Oscar failed the MOT
« on: 12 April 2016, 17:18:50 »
Two cars in two weeks have failed. Last week it was the Vectra, failed on ball joints and rear brakes.

This week Oscar failed and it's not looking good at all. So I nipped to the shop, bought a couple of sidelight bulbs and went back to get my pass certificate!  :y I bought this car just over a year ago for £230, it has just sailed through it's second MOT in my ownership. This car is truly a legend.

Omega General Help / I've blown my wad....
« on: 19 March 2016, 18:22:55 »
....straight out the back of my exhaust! It looks like Rapunzel is trying to escape my back box.

I presume this is just the back box breaking down? IE I need another one.

General Car Chat / Does anyone know about FIAT cars?
« on: 02 January 2016, 15:40:57 »
Apart from the obvious comments.

Seicento 2001 Abarth 1.1 sporting. 8v OHC, MPi setup.

Hello I have an intermittent misfire. My code reader reports p0352.

The problem.....
On initial cold start, it starts on 3 and within a few seconds fires up to 4.
Once warm and the car is restarted, the misfire is pretty much constant. (This makes me think heat related).

What I have tried so far.....
Swap coil packs over - No difference, still get p0352 (even after clearing code). In my mind that takes the coils out of the picture. (There are two coil packs, swapped 1&4 with 2&3)
When misfiring, I've pulled the leads (using insulated gloves), the misfire is from number 2.
Pulled plug 1 and 2, visually checked OK, in fact they look new.
Swapped plug 1 & 2. Still same fault/code.
Visually checked 1 & 2 HT leads.
Swapped lead 1 & 2. Still same fault/code.

What I am now thinking.....
Compression testing all the cylinders.
Injector fault.
Wiring fault.
The fault doesn't match the ECU failure posts I've read.

I bought the car with a suggested injector fault. So I would not be surprised if that is the problem. Searching forums, injectors are suggested, so is the ECU (see above). I've also seen mention of injector cleaner solving the problem.

I just wondered if anyone on here had any better knowledge of these cars?
