General Discussion Area / Re: 3D - Gameing - PC V Console
« on: 31 May 2021, 00:08:18 »
If you want an easy, plug and play life, get a console.

If you want the best performance, frame rate and a lot more expense and agro, get a PC.

I used to PC game, but I've moved to consoles now as the cost and hassle of PC gaming was too great. I'm sure it's not as bad as it was, although the current issues with graphics cards isn't great. I like the idea I can buy a game, it works straight away without finding extra drivers, patches, firmware etc

It all depends what you want to do and who with. My friends are on PlayStation's or PC, at least I can join most of them. Also look at the games you want to play, some are exclusive to one or the other. Personally, my experiences of XBox has been good also, but the userbase tends to be a generation younger.

Hello and welcome.

I have known this be done before and I didn't hear of any major issues. Now that was a Vectra B. But I'd argue the engine is better cooled in the omega due to the layout.

If it's short term, I wouldn't have an issue. The thing is, it seems like a lot of hassle for a short term fix. I believe the 2.6/3.2 had stainless coolers fitted, so if that's the problem, just buy one second hand. I will add, you need to check that the threads for the oil cooler pipes as these can strip, so check them out before buying.

Omega General Help / Re: Aux belt tensioner seems loose

It might be worth checking you've got the right length belt, if you think it's too slack. The belt part number normally tells you the length and number of ribs.

If it's the normal thin vacuum pipes, the ones Vauxhall use thin hard plastic pipe with the rubber ends that fail. Then I think the internal diameter is 4mm. If I'm wrong, it's 3mm, but I seem to remember 4.

Oh, a quick Google says, 3mm, 3.5mm and 4mm ID. You can go .5 down in size, but obviously not up.

I don't know if it's still the case, but you know how in this country you do a year in industry as part of a degree?

Well China has a similar thing. However, your year in industry is in a sweat shop of a factory. Don't do it, don't pass your course. Of course, if your parents are rich, such a lowly task can be bought around.

Sadly most charities are bordering on being a scam

The question to ask is, how much of my money is going to the cause it should be? I know that sounds counter intuitive, but trust me it's not.

By law 10% is the minimum that must be used for good. The other up to 90% can be lost in admin costs.

Then the collection teams are more like multi level marketing scheme, (used to be known as pyramid schemes) so a lot gets lost in commission and wages before head office even sees a penny.

It's sad that this is what we have come to. Charity is supposed to help, but from what I can see, it's a con.

Before anyone says it, yes, I'm a fully paid up member of club cynical.

Stupid thing is I only needed about 150mm, so the darn thing will be kicking about the back for ever.

That seems a waste of pipe.

My mate has just got a job making Dracula dolls. There are only two of them on the production line, so he has to make every second count.

I have a camera in my MX-5 convertible, you can see about 1.5inch of cable, the rest is behind the trim. The camera is so small (no screen) that you have to look hard to notice it. It's about an inch diameter and round and about 3-4 inches wide.

You may not have the sunroof, but that doesn't mean the loom isn't there. Might just need a fuse or bridged relay connection to activate.

I used an inline cigarette lighter socket and then hardwired it to the back of the stereo. As long as you are careful, you can pick up a switched live pretty much anywhere. I'm not 100% on the output of the obd port having enough current.

EDIT I'm wrong, from a quick Google 5 amp output.
