me bleeding head unit is buggered....? fascia falling off and the multi changer cd bit wont work.... need a new /used one if any one has one???

there is one on ebay..... does it need to be uncoded from the doner car or anything like that..... i have an 08 astra van and the radios on those need to be uncoded from the original car other wise they wont work....

i know this has probably been covered....but..... anyone got any suggestions for a decent head unit...CD/MP3/TUNER....i was looking at a double din unit with a screen....but i'm not sure ....??..but....i still want steering wheel control....dash readout and traffic master........and i'm not loaded!

Omega General Help / it's all over the bleeding place.....!!!

just got off the phone to the local tyre place for a quote for 4 new tyres.... and asked about tracking as when i brake the car is all over the place....a bit like have a steering rack made of wine gums.....!!!!

i was told they could do the three adjustments but i maybe that the front bushes are shot.....!!!! he did say that they would have a go at the tracking but if it is the bushes there would be no charge for the tracking....thats honest of him...?

anyway....i've looked in the forum and cant find anything about changing bushes???

any one have a clue on the best way round this....

Omega General Help / overheating.....!

i cant believe it....just done loads of work on the engine bits and now it's over heating.....

my wife drives it the most and only short 10 mile trips to work and back....
any longer trips and the temp starts to climb....?
stays at around the 90 mark for ages, traffic or not then all of a sudden it climbs quickly to the red....?
turn the engine off for five mins and will go back to 90 mark.... drive off then it all gose wrong again...?

incidentally tried turning the heater on to see if this will help...but the heater is cold..?

So....

3.0 MV6

recent work done:

HBV replaced
Fixed the water leak on the oil cooler cover.
New thermostat including transfer pipe.
New water pump.
ABS ECU replaced

help....!!!

Omega General Help / thermostat removal....HEEELLLPPP....!!!

HI CHAPS...

having had a major water leak from what i thought was the water pump...it turns out is coming from the thermostat  :housing....well i think so....?

now...i have removed everything i need to gain access to the thermostat housing and have just removed the nut....(not tork bolt) that holds the connecting pipe to the housing.....but i cant remove the connecting pipe as the dipstick is in the way...?
i cant twist the connecting pipe round as it's still got the bolt stud through it from the block....

how the hell do you get that bugger off....?

any help will be grateful as this little problem is going to turn me to drink if i cant work it out....!!!!

Omega General Help / ABS ECU

arrrgghhhhh....i'm trying to change my abs ecu...and its bloody driving me mental.... it's so hard to get at the bolts....!!

so far i have got the the top two out and the middle left one out...

next i'm going to try and grow really long fingers and stick my eyes on the end of a long stick and poke it down in the engine bay so i can see what the hell i'm doing...!!!!!

just been to maplins and got some longer tork bits that may help....

gonna have a couple of beers and chill out and start afresh in the mornning....

last week the heater stopped working....only now blowing warmish air?

and now....the traction control light has come on aswell as the abs light is on, the speedo has stopped working and the power steering has become really heavy.....really strange this has all happened at the same time....

Omega General Help / brake screeeeeech.....again...!

Hi Chaps...

i posted a while ago about my brakes making a blood loud screeching upon braking.....

so...finally got round to taking all the pads out and filing down / chamfering the leading a trailing edges of my pads to try to cure the really loud screeching i get from the brakes.....and nothing....in fact it has got worse......?

i suppose the next step is new brakes and discs.......unless anyone else has an idea...?

Omega General Help / squealing brakes

Did have a look if this had been covered before but could'nt find anything....

So.....my bloody mega is screaming it's nuts off and it's driving me mental...!

does'nt start screeching until it gets a bit warm....maybe five or so miles of driving, hard braking no squeal, light braking when pulling up at the lights really loud....also if i drive very slowly like in traffic and i just touch the brakes it will also squeal then.

i have recently repalced all pads (good quailty)front and back but not been in to the drums yet.

please help......i'm slowly loosing my hearing....!
