Looks like it would ba a swine to fit (different shape and wiring connector)....plus the US radio frequency specs are slightly different to the uk ones.

Much easier to get a UK setup....

Personally i would not go bose... (too much expense and hard to add mp3 features) do you have a facelift omega?? - You can tell if its a facelift if the electric window buttons are on the door.

If they are not on the door you have a pre-facelift...

Anyway i would suggest a new headunit and put an Active Sub in the boot, the standard speakers in the Omega are excellent when given a more powerful headunit, and an Active Sub adds that extra punch...

I highly recommend Alpine headunit.... see here the adaptor which allows me to connect my iPod

Ignor the crap in the boot... this is my Vibe Active Sub... on a good track it feels like someone is punching the back of my seat when driving!  :o

US stereos only go up in 0.5 incerments, European stereos go up in 0.1 incerments.

By that i mean:
If you have a radio station that's frequency is 96.4 the US stereo will not pick it up, if it was 96.5 or 96.0 then it would.

Hope that makes sense

Enough said,

that head unit looks good.

i have just in another post about what i would need for the bose setup that all seems far to costly and hard to locate so i think will go a different route on improving my system thanks for all you advice.

As far as head units go.

Get the best you can possibly afford.  You can't have a good system without a good signal source.

What are your plans for upgrading?

If you want a good head unit, look for a Blaupunkt Bremen MP74.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

i dont really want to change head  unit unless i really have to, As i would like to keep the dash as standard as possible.

I  would much rather go for better speakers and a smallish amp, And i dont really want to add a sub as i need all the boot space possible (i go camping alot ).

what would you recomend if i go this route?

The standard set up is not bad but i just cannot get it to sound right either to tinney or to much bass.

Also does the ccr 2006 have the feature to increase the volume as the car speed increases like in my old pre faclift cdx? if it does my is not set up. How do i set it up as i dont have a manual for the stereo.

cheers

I don't belive the CCR 2006 has 'Speed Sensive Volume' but Hilper will clarifiy..

As for changing the speakers.... i really would not recommend this, the standard speakers are excellent its the weak vauxhall headunits which let them down.

Changing the speakers and keeping the standard headunit would result in no change IMO...

I too was reluctant to change the look of the standard dash layout, but i am glad i changed.

Avoid double din sized replaces, they are a pig to fit, lack space for adaptors and look pants once installed due to the angled bay in facelifts.

Get a double din to single din adaptor and get a decent single din unit in there, that alone will be far better. Aftermarket headunits have far more  control options...

Err think so. I remember having it loud on the motorway and then comming to a stand still (m25  ::)) and i had to turn it down.

I had speed senstive volume on the american heap i hired in the US... damn annoying and quite noticable we had to turn it off.

Did't even knew it needed setting up, went though most of its options bass, fader and all its other bits....

Might have to consult the book...

**

Which i have now done, it says it has the feature but does not explain how to turn it on...

I remember fiddling with the options on my 2005, most of which did naff all...

If my ccr 2006  has speed sensitive how do i set it up anybody?

Is there a better standard fit unit (better than ccr2006)?

According to the manual....

Speed Dependant Volume Control (SDVC)

Press TUNER control until you hear a beep

Display shows current SDVC setting ie SD VOL +2

Adjust using the tuning controls < >

To store, press TUNER again until you hear a beep.

At SD-VOL 0 the automatic volume control is switched off.

I would go and try it for myself....except racing up and down the M32 playing with the stereo at night might just get me in a bit of trouble !!

Page 16 of CCR2006 audio manual.  Extended functions.

The most noticeable upgrade is to add a sub.

The next best thing is to amp the existing speakers.  (Only need to do the fronts)

But changing the headunit will make a difference on it's own, but you'll loose the standard look unless you get one of these!  ;)
