how did you know it was the fuel . im new to the v6  always had  carlton 24v,s  until now

What V6 do you have? Worth updating your profile with your car details, as issues like this need to know which engine you have as there are considerable differences between earlier and later engines

3.0 has an ICV (idle control valve)

Make sure thats nice and clean, see the guide for instructions. Look for the guide into how to read the codes via "paperclip test".

I'd also start with a good service, air filter, plugs, oil, breathers
