Cars for Sale & wanted / For sale 2003 2.2CD (73k miles)
« on: 04 May 2013, 20:25:09 »
I am advertising my mom's 2003 '03 Reg Omega 2.2CD for sale. It has only covered 73,000 miles and has been owned by my mom since 2004 when it was only 10 months old. It has 11 months MOT and 5 months tax and has full service history. DLK on the forum has serviced it in recent years including replacement cambelt, waterpump and auxilliary belt. It has had a recent brand new genuine Vauxhall alternator and is a very reliable car. The silver bodywork is excellent with no dents and no rust. The car has an auto gearbox. The only reason for the genuinely reluctant sale of this car is that my mom has not been in the best of health recently and has now given up driving. I have been using it a couple of times a week but with already having a car and van of my own cannot justify keeping it taxed and insured. It has got to be one the nicest 2.2 Omegas around and with only 73,000 miles on the clock is a rare opportunity for someone to purchase a low mileage example like this.
Offers over £1150 invited.

Cars for Sale & wanted / For sale 2001 Y Reg 2.2 cdx
« on: 14 February 2013, 21:52:31 »
It is with great regret that I am putting up for sale my 2001 Omega 2.2cdx. It is a Y Reg and has covered 101k miles and has full service history. Darth Loo-Knee (Daz) has serviced it for the last three years and replaced the cambelt plus waterpump and auxilliary belt about 12k miles ago, (It is logged in the service book). I have owned the car for 5 years and it has had 3 owners, the only reason I am selling it is due to a new business venture which means that I need a van. It is finished in silver and has a manual gearbox. Being a cdx it has xenon headlights with washers, 4 disc CD (plus cassette) and electric sunroof. It also has trafficmaster but the subsription has expired. The alloys are mint (no scuffs at all) and the 4 tyres on the car are all Kumho's with loads of tread (80%) and the spare wheel has a brand new unused Dunlop. The car has no rust and is genuinely way better than most Omegas. It has  M.O.T until September and tax until end of July. I am looking for offers in region of £995. I will try and post some pics at the weekend.
PM/ask questions for any other info. :y

General Discussion Area / Big thanks to Brikhead
« on: 20 October 2012, 21:38:30 »
A big thanks to Brikhead for supplying and fitting Speed controller (hedgehog) and getting the heater/fan working again on the '03 2.2CD today. Good to meet you mate and many thanks for a job well done. :y

The heater fan on my 03 2.2CD is not working. The display lights up as normal but no sound (or air coming from vents). A couple of months ago the car did have a blocked scuttle drain so I expect this is the cause of my problems. I am looking for advice on who may be able to fix this problem as I am useless with fixing cars. :-[ I am of course willing to pay for the repair and not expecting a freebie. I live in Cannock, South Staffs. Any help/advice gratefully received.

General Discussion Area / Big thanks to Daz (Loo-Knee)

A massive thanks to Daz for fitting a brand new alternator to the 2.2CD this morning. As always a first class job at a reasonable price with a free coffee and some good banter thrown in. :)
Cheers Daz :y

A massive thanks to Daz for the excellent work done on my car today. (Oil + filter, Spark plugs, Pollen filter, Cam-cover gaskets).
As usual a first class job done at a very reasonable price with some help/advice on other matters too. Well worth the 40 mile drive to have the work done by someone who knows these cars inside out. :)
Cheers Daz :y

Was travelling Northbound on the M6 this morning near Northwich exit when a Gold/Champagne 3.2 Omega (51 plate I think?) overtook me. He must have seen my members sticker in rear window and beeped his horn/put hand up on way past. (Also had rear window sticker).Nice looking car :)
Who might it have been? Was it you? :y

Omega General Help / Auto gear selection
« on: 27 March 2010, 19:55:09 »
We had a problem on the 2003 2.2CD auto today. The car appeared to be stuck in Park and we could not move the selector. After about 20 mins I tried again and it worked fine, this happened once about 6 months ago and was similar in the fact that after leaving the car for a short time and trying again it worked fine. The gearbox always seems to work fine/change smooth etc. Any ideas?

« on: 26 September 2009, 20:45:45 »

Omega General Help / Idle speed (2.2 petrol)
« on: 18 July 2009, 23:21:39 »
My 2.2 cdx (manual) is running great except that it is very slow to return to idle speed when stopping at junctions etc. It is about 1200rpm when stopping but drops to normal tickover gradually over about 10 seconds. Any ideas as to the cause? :-/

Omega General Help / Cambelt on 2.2 petrol
« on: 04 October 2008, 20:47:47 »
The cambelt on our 2003 2.2CD was done at 40k in 2005. The receipt states next change at 80,000 or 4 years. The car is now on 62k and will probably cover no more than 5k in next twelve months. Should we follow 4 years rather than mileage? Advice appreciated. :y

Omega General Help / Advice needed
« on: 23 March 2008, 15:33:44 »
Last week my mom's 2003 2.2cd auto started as normal and she moved it a few yards to load some gear into it. On restarting it had no power and would barely move. E/M light was on. It was taken to our local garage by green flag. When the mechanic started it again all appeared normal and after putting it on diagnostic machine she got printout saying the following;

P1555 Throttle valve control motor position
          Nominal -vs.actual comparison
P1525 Throttle valve control motor
          Emergency mode function
P1550 Throttle valve control motor
System or component in emerg. mode
P1526 Throttle valve control motor
          Malfunction
P0130 02 sensor (bank 1, sensor 1)

P0170 Fuel correction (bank 1)
          Malfunction
No. of errors 6

The car has driven perfectly since, E/M light has come on once but car drove as normal. No work has been carried out yet.
Any advice gratefully received on what to do next. :y

Omega General Help / alarm problem
« on: 03 March 2008, 20:40:11 »
Need a bit of advice please. I drive 3 miles to work each morning, park up and lock my 2.2 cdx. Over the last week my alarm has gone off most mornings within 5 to 10 mins of parking. It has happened a couple of times away from work but this seems to be when it most often happens. Sometimes just indicators flashing, but most times horn aswell. Grateful for any suggestions/advice. :(

General Car Chat / Advice needed (Citroen Picasso cambelt)
« on: 25 June 2009, 20:49:13 »
Our Citroen Picasso 1.6 petrol is due for a cambelt soon. I will be paying my local garage to do the job. Will it be advisable to have a water pump? Or is it just certain cars, ie Omegas on which it is recommended?
