Mobile/Home/or Willing Mechanic Register ?
« on: 19 June 2015, 00:46:03 »

So many people on here need someone to do jobs on their omegas that
i was wondering whether it might be possible to have a list of people who are willing and able to do so ?
What do others think ?

We also need an OOF Good Grub Guide. And a recommended supplier list, but I think that exists.

Yeah good idea IMO, although, speaking personally, my availability changes so sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Same as Chris, love to help but availability changes too much for me to be that worthwhile anymore :(

Why, TB?
As long as people treat it as more of a mutual help club than a Business Directory and realise that we all have other commitments, then apart from needing to have someone to do the Admin.....

Someone on list could take someone for a ride, charge for work, do a shit job. Cambelt could slip and lunch the engine 500 miles after work.

All from a "recommended" forum list of, mechanics who do work.

Current setup works best IMHO  :y

Tunnie, I see what you mean; sometimes it's difficult to remember that not everybody is as nice as we are!

It is a bit of a problem all round, and as a regular user of various members expertise, I also struggle  to find the time during the working week to hook up with someone to work on my cars, because as already said, every one has time commitments and at the moment I'm starting to get a backlog of work needing to be done.So maybe is the time coming where we make that decision to ''get rid'' and stop flogging a 15 year old dead horse, and possibly treat yourself to something a bit more realistic/economical/up to date etc etc  Sad.... but thinking that decision may have to be made in the not to distant future :-\  :'(

Same boat, time is the issue. Got loads of jobs on the list for both cars.  Having a 1 year old daughter, it's hard to find the time.

They need to last a few more years yet, until funds to replace are ready.

That "could" happen anyway. Reguardless of any list, or not.

On a personal level, I do have plans to move the cars on and only have a car, possibly a Monaro or a Yank of some description, more than likely a Charger or Mustang, just depends on how much longer I'm going to work. All I know is that juggling three cars that constantly need drip feeding money and parts is getting boring now and there's a gradual realisation that one car will fit the bill as I don't get to drive more than a few thousand miles a year...OR....just get my bus pass and join the 'twirlies'...PCV drivers amongst us will know what I mean by that ::)

I think it's a good idea especially if it comes as a recommendation from a member.  My local mechanic knows all about Omegas if anyone wants a recommendation in my area.
