General Car Chat / Re: Take some deep breaths before viewing

The fella in the Kia, unfortunately, seems to be disabled going by the ramp access on the rear of the car. These older folks seem to have quite an arrogant (you wont do opps all to me coz Im disabled) attitude. A mate of mine used to have the same attitude when he was driving his Range Rover "I'll drive over you if I need to" he said to 1 bloke - who then proceeded to rip him from the drivers seat and give a physical talking to... He hasn't done it since... Personally Id have given the Kia an excuse to stop by accidentally bumping into the back of his car, he'd then have a reason to stop....

I had the opposite on a Morrisons car park... For my Mini...

Some fella fell out of his Nissan Sunny and said to his wife, just loud enough for me to hear that it was an old banger..... for his wife to say that my old banger was probably worth more than the peace shit we drive about in :)

Could always contact DVLA, pay them the price and get the name and address with the registration number... But then, you would need proof that the person did it... All she would have to do is deny it...

General Car Chat / Re: D2S Hid bulbs at Halfords
« on: 08 November 2017, 12:28:38 »
When I had my Omega, I needed a pair of D2's in the headlights as the original bulbs was crap. I converted mine to HID and they worked perfectly... Bit fiddly to get the bulb into the correct place, but the D2 holder would hold the HID bulb securely no problem...

Passed MoT everytime with them fitted, and they used the D2 ballasts too, so only needed to replace the bulbs and not everything else...

General Car Chat / Re: Car insurance due.
« on: 04 November 2017, 16:03:10 »
Got my renewal through for my Mini with Lancaster (Classic Insurance) their renewal was £285 with limited mileage of 5000 per year, did a comparison with the Meerkats and got it to £225 with RAC. Rang Lancaster and they gave me an even better quote of £150, same policy just a cheaper price.... I will admit I snatched their hand off... I was going to SORN it and take it off the road as I dont use it much over winter. I was enquiring about lay away insurance, but that would have been £130 for the year... was a no brainer really, so keeping it legal for the road if I need it...

The V70 insurance last year was almost £1000 (£987), this renewal came down to £450.... I have no idea as to why its cheaper suddenly. The only thing I can think of is my wife is due to turn 40 (she is on both policies) and that has affected the insurances...

Excellent flight, the landing was very very good...

I can only presume this was a solo flight...?

I flew a glider from Longridge near Preston a few years ago, got a video of it somewhere too....

Will do it again when I get chance to....

« on: 01 November 2017, 16:59:49 »
Had to go out last night to our eldests parents evening at his college to see 2 of his tutors, left a sign on the front (locked) gate to say we dont want trick or treat and it seemed they obeyed.... Might have been the fact they couldn't gain access to our front door and no lights on that might have stopped them too LOL

Halloween is getting bigger and bigger every year, as has been said, another imported tradition - we'll be celebrating 4th of July next...... my oppsing arse we will too.... even though a very large clothing chain tried a 4th July special offer a couple of years ago and got shot down very quickly when they got reminded what 4th July actually means to the Yanks...

What actually fell....?

A hard drive or a PC/Laptop...

A hard drive is part of a PC/Laptop...

It sounds to me like there is a problem in the BIOS and may just need a reset....

You can buy a SATA to USB cable, but you need to make sure the USB port is capable of producing enough power to supply the HDD...

..... by a blogger called Techmoan as ...

It's not a bad site is it? ..... and local to Heinz in Wigan .... and he drives a Snart Roadster  :y :y

I also like his blog too, and he is a local Wiganer but I laways thought he had a Renault Megane convertible meself and a BMW touring bike....

I do like the blasts from the past he seems to find on anything. I even had 1 of the radio's he reviewed once but was a slight upgrade from the 1 he reviewed called a Grundig Yachtboy... Used to be my Grandads, dunno what happened to it though....

I stumbled upon his blog when I was trying to find a decent dashcam too, I ended up with a Nextbase Duo, has a front and rear facing camera, both in HD quality too. Thats in my V70, I also have 2 cheaper cameras in my Mini, 1 facing front and 1 facing rear, not as good quality but they do the job....

I also could not access the forum either, but they quite happily took my money. I emailed them many times and got no reply, except for one where it said I need to contact an admin - but never had a way to actually contact an admin without accessing the forum...?

Basically took my money and the piss at the same time....

Was a nice friendly bunch at Billing though, until the Lotus Carlton's turned up.....

Omega General Help / Re: Self levelling suspension woes
« on: 05 October 2017, 10:04:00 »
Sounds like the sensor on the rear is faulty, but I think it also runs in conjunction with the sensor on the front NS arm too....?

I had a very similar problem with mine when I had it, I replaced the front sensor with a known good working sensor, replaced the pump as it was noisy and it magically all worked in unison... BUT I was getting the HI-LO VIS FUNCTION on the dash display....

I ended up by removing the rear air rams, disconnecting the pump and replaceing the air rams with Bilstein shocks and Apex springs all round.... it could still tow our tintent, but also didnt wallow around corners like a bloated whale....

« on: 28 September 2017, 10:50:24 »
I'm lucky, as clearly I have the only 4 reliable Dysons ever made...

...though, granted, after over 20yrs, the switch is becoming intermittent on the garage vac.

I must also be lucky too, our DC01 is still going strong and not faultered once, we now have a new V6 Ball thingy. The only thing that is annoying about it, is it keeps falling over for some reason....?
