Front or rear tyre....?

Could be subframe out of alignment with rear....?

Poly bushes or normal rubber...?

Does the vehicle, the tyre came off, regularly get bumped up a curb...?

Omega General Help / Re: Convert Exhaust
« on: 20 April 2017, 20:59:12 »
I still have a catback full stainless exhaust system, that was fitted with the Irmscher style split pipe that ran to the other side.... funnily enough fitted by a 'Pikey' exhaust system fitter/builder.... sounds very nice when running, also has released a few extra ponies with the system design....

You will need brute force and a screwdriver to remove them....

If you drop the seat backs down and look up at them, you will see them protruding into the rear parcelshelf, you need a longish flat blade screwdriver to push in the pastic clips that hold them in place, them brute forve to push them through the hole they are sat in... If they break, theres plenty more in scrappies...

Not me but a lad round the corner from me, took in a part exchange of a Vectra B (X20XEV) with a blown head gasket.... changed head gasket, replaced cambelt etc.... cranked over the engine on starter.... daft bastard had left the cams locked off with the locking tools, stripped the starter motor and a couple of teeth off the starter ring, along with ruining the new cambelt... he scrapped the car...

100% fit the A cams along with the G cams, will feel a lot better midrange and top end....

Gasflowing the heads and mapping to suit, will get good gains... 12-13BHP doesn't sound a lot, but it can change the way the car feels under acceleration and will be smoother. Duno about the gearbox remap...

Tubular manifolds will help with gasflow, but better to fit an X pipe or 2 into 1 pipe and single exit pipe instead of the two pipes that will be unbalanced, the X pipe balances the exiting gasses and will make a big difference... It did my 2.5 :y make sure the pipe work is minimum 3" pipes from Y piece, otherwise it will strangle the exiting gasses and create unwanted backpressure....

Cant hurt fitting the 4 bar FPR but the ECU will restrict the fuelling, unless the remap can be programmed to suit the FPR.....

General Car Chat / Re: Big insurance hikes all round ?
« on: 12 March 2017, 13:27:32 »
Im paying over £1500 for both my cars for insurance.... it never goes down...

I tried to transfer the insurance from the Omega to the Volvo and the insurance company just refused point blank to insure the Volvo as it was too big a risk....!!! They told me they wouldn't insure that type of car... I argued that it was 'just a Volvo estate' and nothing special, but they still refused to insure it....

Its insured fully comp with full NCB and no claims in the past 18 years, I ask why is it so expensive for me when others get it cheaper than me, they never answer me.... All I can say is its the area I live in and that Im a fulltime carer for my wife....

The Mini also has expensive insurance too, but that is a higher value car and more at risk to go missing....
