Siemens NCDR 2011 Problem
« on: 02 October 2009, 21:12:52 »

I have a Siemens NCDR2011 radio / CD system in my Y reg Omega.
When I put a CD in, any CD, I get the message 'Please insert CD with printed side up' . Obviously I am putting it in the correct way up.

Is there anything I can do, maybe to clean it, or reset something?

Than

Laser unit can't focus. Have you been using copied CD's in the drive?

I mainly just use it for sat nav, genuine disc, but have used the odd copied audio cd.

What can I do?

Replace it? Isnt that a bit extreme?

You say it wasnt a standard fit. The car was a 1 owner low mileage car when I got it, and it certainly looks like it has been there from new! It is a 2.5 petrol estate cdx.

Replace the cd module I meant.

Only ncdc2013 and ncdc2015 were std fit from NCDC range.

You can still get the laser units for the single slot, albeit not the OEM ones.

Only Omega's i've seen with the 2011 fitted are non-uk.

If it is dead, can I upgrade to a multi cd unit? If so what model is that, and how much of a job is it to change!

De-pair screen and head unit, fit NCDC2013/15, pair head unit and screen, set Bose mode to match car configuration

Never actually taken a NCDC2011 apart, but suspect its the same laser module as fitted to rest of NCDC, and a replacement is available.

To swap to NCDC2013 (similar system, only with 4 disk multichanger), you need to depair your old screen/radio.  This needs the original pairing code, and this is where you may fall into trouble if the stereo is not original...

Do you have the carpass? If so, does it say for radio 2011/xxxx ?

I wouldn't recommend them, often do more damage than good.

In this case, its a philips laser used with CDRs, which pretty much equals knackered focusing coils on laser

The Boy, I have been through the paperwork I have with the car, and cannot find a radio code. I have the car pass but for radio it just says N/A!.
I will try the Vauxhall dealer and see if it is available somehow.
What does 'depair' mean?
And what sort of money would a (working!) replacement unit be?

Thanks

Ah sugar, thats what I was afraid of.

A 2013 costs around £150-£300 depending on condition normally.

But you cannot change just the stereo unless you know the original pair code (The screen and display are 'married' together with a special code, and cannot be seperated without depairing first).

Which is why I've been saying your only option (short of changing stereo and screen) is to replace the cd module

Sorry to be dim, but what is the cd module? Is that a part of the 2011 that can be replaced on it's own?
