"Projector headlights"?
« on: 16 June 2008, 20:13:16 »

I saw these mentioned on the post about headlight covers.

What are they?
Can they be retrofitted to my '99 minifacelift CD?
Were they are standard fit on some models (and thus available second hand) or do I have to buy new/stealer?

Cheers.

Cheers TheBoy, so why do they seem so poor?.  I thought it was the crud that had appeared on the front glass making them look "murky" but even after changing them I'm still dissapointed with their performance. They seem dull and yellow somehow, or maybe I was just spoilt by Volvo?

Would a change of bulb help - any suggestions people?

yes

A 96 Elite does not have projectors as standard, but they can be retro-fitted without much difficulty.

Elite now gone.  Bought an X-Type 4x4.  If there had been an Omega 4x4 I would have bought that instead.  We really liked the Omega, but I wanted 4x4.

Projectors can be put straight in to any model upto 99 without any changes and 3 bolts...dead easy...but as said...if you have the clear glass lights on your 98-99 Omega then you already have projectors (unless you have an elite or MV6 in which case you should have HID lights) I have a set here for sale if anyone is interested £100 plus delivery :)

Just changed my headlights, (1996 GLS) for projectors, and a set of 'xenon blue' bulbs (not HID's!!) easy upgrade, and the new bulbs give a 'whiter' light as well. worth doing. But.. be aware that the 'old' lights use H1, HI, bulbs, but the projectors use H1, H7, so make sure you get the right bulbs, especially if you 'look up the model' when buying them. I had to specify a 1998/99 model to get the right combination. If you specify 1996 you get the H1,H1 instead.
The whole lot cost me £60, lights & bulbs. As stated, easy peasy job!! 30 minutes at most. :y :y

Less interfering with the output of the bulbs due to the clear glass...better looking...also slightly better bulb...overall worth doing...especially if you are having problems with yellow lights as you will have a significant improvement over them! lol :)

Just came from 2k miles round trip on the continent, with lots of night driving. Realized how crap standard lights are and now looking to upgrade. Not interested in stile too much, but want to be able to drive 90-100mph and at the same time be able to see where I am going
